You may see some small downloads if Steam Shader Pre-caching is enabled.
They also appear in the Steam downloads section, and Steam does not clearly distinguish them from actual game updates. Check for updated files here:
...\Steam\steamapps\shadercache\257510\

It is a general option for Steam:
Steam > Settings > Downloads > Enable Shader Pre-caching (## MB pre-cached)

Same, but when I logged in it gave me another log in screen and I don't have a username... I hope it didn't delete my save.
