I'm so sorry for the necro, but just to confirm.
If I uninstall the game, and re-insall it sometime later, my progress should be saved?
I'm asking becasue I have ♥♥♥♥ computer, and I have decided after a few hours of play time, that I don't want to keep playing in a laggy state. You have to pay attention to little details in the game, but lowering everything to a minimum the drawing distance of everything becomes too distracting to pay attention to details. Plus I want to enjoy the game in good graphics.
Steam does not delete the save game when you uninstall the game from Steam. That has to be deleted separately, so it is safe to uninstall Talos Principle and keep your progress.
Thanks man! Does that works for other games too? Or just for games that have some kind of synchronization enabled by the developers?

The scripts automatically figure out your seamid so they work on any computer without editing.
Steam Cloud sync works for all games that support it. Your save game data itself is only removed when you delete it (like if you removed the Steam directory or reinstalled it from scratch or something). It's usually a good idea to back up your saves in some way. I use Game Save Manager for this purpose. It can back up any game save to any location you want, including a cloud account (like Dropbox e.g.) and it's free. Here's a link to the site if you are interested.
