Does anyone know where the save data is stored?

The location depends on where you installed Steam, but it'll look something like this:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<yourSteamID>\257510\remote\PlayerProfile.dat

userdata is where the Steam cloud stuff gets saved.

You basically don't need to transfer your save game if you play on other computer with a same profile. When you finish playing, just exit game so that Steam uploads save game on cloud. Login to other computer, start game and continue playing from where you left. Easy as that!

Is that the only file that stores the Backups? It seems oddly small. Just checking because I want a file I can revert back to in order to re-view the collected data at my leisure... and there's 4 achievements I want that require starting from the beginning.

Alternately, make the journal accessible from the main menu!! :D I see no reason why not, and this way I can enjoy multiple playthroughs without losing my completed data collection.

It's a binary file that simply needs to store your completion progress, and probably the location of movable world objects, so it doesn't need to be very big. I can't remember off hand if worlds reset when you go through a portal.

Yeah, I don't trust the cloud. Not to bash Steam in particular or anything, but I like my savegames where I can see them (and copy them).

In this forum, there's a pinned thread pointing to the FAQ. In the FAQ, there's a question like "where are the saved games". And the answer to that question.... :)

@AlenL, I have looked for said topic "Where are the saved games" (or something like it, at least with the word "save" in it) and I cannot find it. This is not even remotely helpful. Please post a link to the topic or post the actual answer.

It was already posted at the top of this thread:

Btw, the FAQ is here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=356983568 and it's linked from the pinned topic called "FAQ - please read before reporting problems". :)

I just returned to the game to revisit the external ascension and found that my nearly complete game progress was about the 6th entry down ... potentially scrolling out of existence had I continued with my restart.

'gist: BACKUP your PlayerProfile.dat file once you've hit the end, to ensure you always have access to the end-game options.
