What's this little red square in my hud?
So, to the left of my "stars found" counter at the top of my screen, there is a little red square with a "1" by it in the manner of the star counter.

I've searched for what this is, but I can't find an explanation. Could someone please tell me what this is?

Thanks.

It means you have collected 1 red sigil.

Imperialist is correct. Also, red sigils are the hardest puzzles, yellow sigils are medium, and green are the easiest.

The thing I don't get is why after getting all sigils A-1 through A-6, did I get this now? Does it mean that all the red puzzles I did completed a greater sigil? I mean, I of course already completed more than one red sigil puzzle right?

Because you got 5 sigils from A1 to A6, and then spent 4 on the Tower sigil puzzle, leading with 1.

Yep. Extra sigils that will apply to a floor you haven't reached yet.

The thing throwing me was that I didn't know the red sigils were subtracted from my hud toward the first tower level BEFORE I actually attemped that floor's sigil puzzle. This is different than the gated star levels, for which one's stars remain in the inventory UNTIL one turns them in for sigils.

Thank you Desk Rabbit and Imperialist.

There is no manual unelss I'm overlooking it. This old thread was the only answer I found. Seems obvious after seeing a matching pickup later, but wasn't observant enough initially.
