Ah, I'll look at the puzzle again. BUT, how does this affect getting the connector out to grab the star at the top of the obelisk?
Ah, I guess it is still possible. Though it appears to be much more challenging to accomplish now. I remember it being really easy before, and that was how I successfully completed the puzzle. Though with my most recent playthrough, I found it to be much more difficult to accomplish, so I figured out the "intended" solution. So while it is possible, it isn't necessary to solve the puzzle and doesn't really make the solution any easier.
For the star you need to get both a connector and a fan outside the puzzle area. You also need a cube to get out and to get to the Pink Floyd easter egg.
