Who wants to calculate the probability of this ?
Ever pay attention to the smudge and rust patterns on the control panels of the elevators in Buildings A, B, and C ?? They are IDENTICAL !! Imagine what alignment of atmospheric conditions had to exist to produce the same oxidation -- the same pattern -- and the mechanic who installed them to make the same smudges !
Maybe ------ just maybe ---- CROTEAM got a little hurried in their rush to market ?? Naaaah.

If a million monkeys on a million typewriters have a finite probability of creating the complete works of Shakespere --- then what's the probability of this happening ?

Well, consider that the devs from IAN were very short on time and later, manpower. IAN had to hurry, not Croteam!

Huh? I think all the Egyptian worlds are the same as Serious Sam. You're talking about elevator buttons?

He's joking. Potentially spoilery: IAN is the group of scientists in the game that made the simulation in which you solve the puzzles and so on. Stupendous Man is joking that not Croteam, but the in-universe developers rushed the development.

OK --- that flew right over my head. Here I was thinking of possibly another Croation something or other was involved ----- here it was just some wry humor from Granada, Andulcia Spain --- good one Ken.

Lol, it's the same in every game. Fun fact: Games reuse assets and mostly built modularly. If it weren't like that, they would be most likely in the hundred GBs size now and games would take a lot more time, money and resources to make.

IAN = Institute of Applied Noematics ;-)

It's mentioned several times in the terminal texts, you can also see the logo on the terminals and elsewhere.

BTW, thanks for telling me my profile is public, I thought it was private!

Yeah, there are more obvious re-uses of textures and objects. The simulation in the game is supposed to be that way. It's the same reason that things in the game do that "glitch" thing. It's not supposed to be a perfect simulation and you are supposed to be aware of that. It's part of the story line.

Except Rage. But it took 200 people team for 5 years development... and everyone[1] hates it. Talos took 2 years/20 people and everyone[2] loves it;)

Technically, Talos took about a year and a half. I'm sure that many of its resources were actually taken from Serious Sam 4 after its development was halted in favor of Talos.

The more I thought about this ---- I tend to agree ----- EXCEPT for one thing. Having played through all 4 endings -- and IF time and resources were so limited in rushing to save "humanity' --- then what's with the robot cat ?? And yes --- it has to be a robot cat to survive without food water in a bloody box. IAN had obvious conflicts with priorities ----- but one of the devs probably had a cat ---- just couldn't let go the emotional bond.
Solais Jan 27, 2015 @ 1:32pm
Is it a robot cat? After all, you find the cat in the simulation, so it is just a simulated animal.
dk Jan 27, 2015 @ 1:52pm
The point is that creating a robot or making a simulation ( which is also quite time-consuming) consumes resources. Besides --- creating a cat -- as opposed to a dog --- was a mistake. Having had both --- I'd much prefer to have a dog greet me in the future instead of a cat. Dogs get excited to just be with their 'partner' ---- cats just want food.
