Shrines / Messengers / Hints
Fist: I already took a quick look in this community board but since I don't want get spoiled too much I started this thread to ask directly my question.

Actually I'm a gamer who didn't like to get any help like hints. However, since the game is getting harder and harder there are some rooms/puzzles I can't solve at the moment.

I know there is like a 'shrine' in every puzzle and as far as I know you will get a help when you use the shrine. My question is if you've a unlimited amount of this help or not. Since I awake some of this (think so-called) 'messenger' I've a question mark at the bottom of the screen and a "one" on the right of the symbol. The point I'm not sure if this one refers to the numbers of help I can use for the shrine or the number refers to some other kind of help?

Sure I can just try what's happen when I use the shrine instead of asking, but in case it decrease the number of 'messenger help' (question mark) I should concider well which puzzle I will request help.

Yes. You get 3 in the base game and +3 in the promotional extra Sigils of Elohim game. That makes six.

You get only three uses, they may or may not be of any help, you need to unlock each one, and you can't even do that until you've opened up Hub C.

Also you need to solve a bunch of those tertonimo puzzles to unlock the messengers, and some are annoying.

I'm not a fan of the "help" from the messengers. The one time I broke down and decided it was worth it to ruin my perfect no-hints run to get me unstuck on a puzzle, the game assumed falsely that I had already gotten past the first part of the puzzle (I hadn't) and needed help on the next part of the puzzle (I didn't )- I could see from afar exactly what to do once I got there, but I couldn't get there in the first place, and what I needed the help on was "how do I get in there" not "what do I do once I'm there"). So I lost my "no hints" run for... nothing. It "helped" me by telling me how to deal wit hthe part of the puzzle I already knew how to deal with, but couldn't reach yet. It didn't help tell me how to reach it.

There was a fan on the other side of a force field. It assumed I didn't know how to deal with the fan. I did. The problem was getting past the force field to get there in the first place, which involved seeing that a wall was shorter than all previous walls I'd encountered with the same artwork had been in other puzzles. Noticing that that wall was a few inches shorter than it looked like it was (and therefore can be jumped over with aid of a box even thought it looked like the type of wall that past experimentation had shown was too tall for that) was actually the hint I was missing.

The problem could be fixed by having the hint system track where you've been so far in the puzzle. It should be able to detect that my footsteps have never taken me past that one force field into the inner area, and therefore I haven't gotten to the part about the fan yet. It could have had hints that differ based on how far you've explored into the puzzle so far - which barriers you've gotten past.

But it doesn't, so there's a very strong chance that you'll spend the precious rare resource of one of your 3 hints on something utterly irrelevant.

This is going to sound silly but how do I even access them? I'm guessing it has to do with those barricaded door like that one in the Star level A I used an axe on, but where do I find an axe within the hub itself?

You can find it in temple C.

Haha. I love how you completely belaboured your point in a general sense, and then decided to further beat that dead horse by going into the details of the specific situation regardless. You could have saved us all a lot of time and conveyed the same point in just a handful of lines.

It must be a treat to have conversations with you in the real world. :)

Ok, I have gotten through to all three Messengers and have 3 "?" hints at the bottom of my screen.

So here's a stupid question, how do you actually activate a hint? I've tried pushing almost every button on my keyboard including the "?" and nothing... LoL I've figured out almost every puzzle in this game on my own so far and haven't figured out how to activate the hints...

There's a sort of shrine on a wall in red sigil puzzles (only those). Interact with that.
