The Talos Principle - Update 243520
Build 243520 for The Talos Principle is released.
If you have previously opted into public beta, you already have this.

Here are the changes:

New features:
- Prepared for Road To Gehenna DLC.
- Added experimental support for SteamVR. To enable it, right click on The Talos Principle in your Steam Library, then click on Properties / Set Launch Options, and add the following parameter: +vr 1
- Added support for the newest ATI GPUs.

Gameplay/visual improvements:
- Improved behavior of wide plasma walls: players will no longer be pushed to the original point of entry, and touch effects should sound more natural.
- Improved the appearance of soft shadows on vegetation.
- Added support for viewer-facing cloud particles, which should look more natural.
- Deliberate glitching will no longer occur while player is using a terminal.

Bug fixes:
- Fixed several cases where connectors would lose their connections when using time recorder.
- Fixed SSAO artifacts on certain resolutions and buffer scales.
- Fixed an issue causing some crumbs to be rendered black (e.g. black grass).
- Fixed artifacts along object edges lit by fast lights when using MSAA.
- Shader caching and texture loading progress screen will now render correctly on triple screen setups.
- Improved translations for several languages.

Optimizations:
- Major overhaul of crumbs rendering. There should be a noticable increase in performance on lower-end PCs.
- Optimized visibility system for distant lights, which improves performance on lower-end CPUs.
- Improved performance of plasma wall rendering on ATI cards.

what about an option when we get stuck (like a lifeline or a hint or something)? I'm at a point of the game i can't pass and i'm frustrated...

Does SteamVR is supported on SteamOS?

I note that with this update, set to VSync on (to avoid tearing the image when I change angle rapidly), my walking is now uneven: like I have a limp or something, every fourth or fifth step is delayed. nVidia 750Ti (2GB GDDR5 plus 2GB shared with system) on AMD Phenom II X4 975 3.60GHz with 8GB RAM; testing on, I think, B2 -- the night level in the desert.

Can you please post a screenshot with prf_bShowFPSGraph=2 showing this problem? Also, please do it in a separate thread not to hijack the update thread. Thanks!

What about my saves?! They are gone and I need to start from very beginning!

Your saves aren't gone, they just changed the main menu interface to prepare for the looming DLC release. The "Continue Game" option used to be in the starting menu. Now you have to go to Play -> Talos Principle -> Continue Game.

Did it break all the Workshop mods? I downloaded the game again but it doesn't seem to have grabbed my Workshop subscriptions. :(

It says, "Steam workshop content update failed. Please restart the application to try again." but restarting doesn't help.

LATER EDIT: I went through all my subscriptions and noticed a couple in the list which gave an error when I clicked on them to go to their Workshop page. I'm guessing that they were either set to private or deleted, and that's what was causing the download to fail. My Workshop content successfully updated after I unsubscribed from those problematic items.

BTW I want to thank Croteam for adding the large print option to the terminals in The Talos Principle. I wish more game companies were conscious of the needs of people with visual disabilities like that. (Blizzard, hello?)

Hello, does this update include the French updated localization texts ? (previously notified as being received on July 10 by the studio ). I just bought the game and hesitate which text language to choose. Is the French update a real full good French adaptation or does it only include minor modifications to the initial horrible Fr loc. ? Thanks in advance

Neonxgenesis,
yes, the french localization is updated and there are many changes from the previous translation.

This reminds me of one time in Whole Lotta Jamming where I somehow ended up inside the area with the keys, with the wall turned on and the jammer outside. IIRC I was trying to sprint through and pick up the jammer enroute, and it somehow ended up turning off the jammer without picking it up, and I got rubberbanded back inside the field.

Or Steam with regard to the app/client or whatever.

Can a dev please help me out with my DK2 support?

No matter what settings I use Talos won't recognize my HMD,

Direct HMD has no response and extended mode is useless since the screens mirror.
