QR codes?

I just started the game and have found some QR codes. Are they useful for something? Can I read them in game or I need a cellphone (my cellphone couldn't read it)?

Almost all of the QR codes are readable in-game, just hover your cursor over the QR code while standing close and the message should pop up. No cell phone required. However, cell phones should be able to read the QR code as well (it will say the same message), but it can be touchy and may have to read the QR code from a very precise angle. Anyway, I said almost all of the codes because there are about three exceptions (minor spoilers) there are a few QR codes that require a phone to decode, but these are tied to optional hidden stars that aren't needed unless you are seeking 100% completion.
