The game crashes when I launch it!!!

Sometime this fatal error shows up, "cannot set display mod".....Besides ,now also my other games crash.

Did you made any changes to you pc's hardware? If your other games crashes then it must be some hardware issue.

No...I have far cry 4 and the talos principle....both working. Yesterday windows asked for an update and since that moment the game crashes and what drives me crazy is this.....far cry still works fine....if I run the talos principle obviously I get the crash but now if I try to launch far cry it doesn't start....I have to restart my PC to be able to play far cry and at this point I can play it as usual untill I try to launch the talos principle!!!!
I installed the latest nvidia driver and installed the directX file you found as usual in the game directory.

This happened after Windows 10 update? Maybe you'll also need to reinstall the vcredist packages. You could also try the x64 talos principle, on the pop up screen before the game launches.
I think maybe is just something to do with windows finding the right display or some game resolution problem. I don't know if there's a way to reset the game video settings without getting in the game.

I have already done all of it.....I've installed the directX , the VCRedist and the .NET Framework files I 've found in the far cry's directory and also launched the x64 version of the game......nothing has changed......I'm going to install an old nvidia driver and hope for the best. If it won't work then I will restore my pc to before the update.....I have no more idea

That is one reason why I have not upgraded to windows 10 just yet. I'm happy with 8.1 as more software are compatible

Just restore... sounds like the easiest option.

Same here.... I can't see any benefit upgrading from 8.1. If anything I will only be susceptible to issues.

Same here.... I can't see any benefit upgrading from 8.1. If anything I will only be susceptible to issues.

I have to say that before that last update everything was fine with win10....anyway I solved the problem.....some weeks ago I red about some crashes involving fallout 4 on my kind of laptop (it's a lenovo Y50). This issue showed up using the latest Nvidia drivers: with an older driver (the 355.98) there was no problem.....so I installed this driver o my pc in order to avoid this issue with fallout. I don't remember if I removed that driver before or after the system update, but now I 've installed the 355.98 driver again and the talos principle works as usual. So luckly I have not restored the system but I admit I'm not so sure about how all of this stuff worked. Do you have opinion about all this strange tale??? =D
