How to download MP3 soundtrack w/o needing to download the entire game?
Would appreciate some response, thanks. I have the soundtrack DLC but don't wanna waste precious data downloading the entire game again just for it.

When you click on the game in your library, you should see a "DLC" section in the right panel (if not, go to properties and DLC)

You can uncheck everything except the Soundtrack DLC. Then install the game, and it'll only download that.

Still I need to download the base game.

Hmm.. might be a bug with Steam if that's true. If you uncheck "Full Game", it definitely used to not download the full game. The soundtrack is actually quite big because it downloads multiple formats (FLAC, OGG, AAC, WMA)... so maybe that's what you're seeing?

If you wanted MP3 you'd want to transcode the FLAC (it's a lossless format)

You can't uncheck "Full Game", it's not on the list. You can only disable DLCs there. It would be weird if you could download only DLCs, since 99% of them are additions to the base game, they wouldn't work without it.

Unless you download it from a different source, I don't think there is a way to download only the soundtrack through Steam.

Ah, my mistake. Must be a unique way my key was handled since I was in the beta. Figured everyone's was similar.

Yep, sorry, but this is the way it works with Steam nowadays. Previously, bonus content used to be a separate appid, but the "proper" way of doing it now is as a DLC, which causes that you must download the game first. Shrug.

Nevermind, I managed to do it. There is a guide on how to do this on SteamDB. Takes a bit of an effort, but at least I didn't need to download the entire game.

1) Input "steam://open/console" into your web browser address bar

2) Type "download_depot 620 323180" into the console interface (for example, 620 is Portal 2's appid, and 323180 is soundtrack's appid) - Find this info for your game from SteamDB

3) It will download the soundtrack in the background to the game folder in Steam/SteamApps/Content/AppId

In Step 2 above, for The Talos Principle, just input the follows: download_depot 257510 322020

And thanks devs for updating it with a few tracks from Road to Gehenna!!!
