About Stars, there are 30 in the whole game, hidden or hard to reach. They're used to get the third (last) ending, the "100% completion" ending.
Red sigils are used somewhere later in the game. You'll understand when you see it. Or maybe you won't use them at all. Your choice.
About the main plot, I understand you could be pretty confused right now. When you'll leave world A, you'll see some more things. Reading every text in the terminals will also help you to understand the real story of the game, putting the pieces together. You'll see that everything has a purpose or means something.
By 'red dots' I presume you mean your increasing collection of red sigils? They unlock stuff... elsewhere... if you choose to go down that route.
The shrines inside the puzzle areas allow you to ask for help from one of the Messengers if you're really stuck. The snags are that you have to find and release the Messengers first and their help can sometimes be almost as cryptic as the puzzle you're stuck on... oh, and you can only ask each Messenger for help once.
Are you worthy? Only the worthy get to ascend at the end of it all so proving yourself worthy enough to do it is a good thing... isn't it?
So in area 2 with the puzzle with that shrine. Am I asking for help every time I interact with it? I mean it doesn't matter because I solved it lone before I realized what this was. I thought it was part of mystery till I saw my user name and realized its a wierd online social component of sorts...
and the other thing is no online thing. It's kind of an ingame solution help. Later you can unlock so called messenger who can help you one time to solve a puzzle. But you probably should save them for later when finally some more difficult levels will appear.
And by the way you are still only at the beginning...
And the thing with the Solar Time Dial Puzzle you mentioned: its the hardest riddle of the game.
But here is a small hint if you have too big problems:
You have to read the QR Code in the middle, behind the terminal
Also found some of these QR codes that don't have anything on them. Is this part of a puzzle? Do I need something to enable them? There seems to be quite a few "blank" ones.
QR codes exist in real life. And QR codes in-game are real, valid, QR codes. I hope you understand what to do to read those "blank" QR codes, as there is no other way.
Still being told I am not worthy. Lol; such attitude by a game.
Anyway; on evolution...
Why do modern (Caucasian) men (in particular) grow long beards (or are able to), when you dont see that on African apes:
It infers beards are part of evolution?
