I think The Witness is one.

Magrunner and Q.U.B.E. are two other first-person puzzle games. They are closer to Portal than The Talos Principle, though. The closest thing to The Talos Principle would probably be The Witness.

what do you like best about this game? the atmosphere? the story? the subject matter (and what aspect of the subject matter), the characters?

i can give some recs based off those

Considering how good and original The Talos Principle is, it's hard to find competition for it.

i find the expand pack to be not as good as the original game even. . . the original is just perfect in everyway

The Talos Principle is many things. If you want an abstract feel, try Antichamber. If you want visuals and no hand holding, try The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. If you want a game with philosophical undertones, try The Witness. I have heard EtherOne is good but haven't played it yet. You might also want to try Myst (or realMyst).

thanks for all the replies! My friend recommended me to get Soma a while ago and i'm very suprise that no one mentioned it! it is very similar in terms of philosophical ideas

I haven't played it myself, but you could try to check at DeadCore, although puzzle solving seems to rely on speed and jumping (at least by looking at videos).

Soma is a horror game (though the horror is not too bad in my opionon so don't feel intimidated by that if you don't usually play horror games) that has an aspect to the story that is VERY talos principle, so yes they connect in terms of philosophical ideas though it is not a puzzle game which is why no one mentioned it

+1 on Antichamber

Also, another idea that hasn't been listed yet...check out Pneuma: Breath of Life. Now, some people didn't like it, but mostly because there are a couple of obtuse puzzles (honestly, the Talos Principle is guilty of this in a couple of places, too), and because it's pretty short (~2-3 hours). So, definitely don't pay the $20 price tag. But, if it goes on sale, you find it in a bundle, OR if you're an XBox One player, then it's worth checking out. If you have XBox Live Gold, they gave it away for free one month, which is how I got it. Also, if you're an achievement hunter, most of them are easy in this game, except one which is very, very hard to get. I did it, but never would have accomplished it (at least not in a reasonable amount of time) without looking online for the order of precedence (you'll see what I mean if you decide to go for it). It was honestly kind of annoying, but it also got me another 90 minutes of play time out of the game. :D

Anyway, that's worth checking out. It asks a lot of philosophical things without answering them (well, it kind of answers a few things at the end), and has first-person mechanical puzzles. They mostly rely on perspective in that game, which was what I liked...the mechanics were annoying in a couple of places, but overall I had a lot of fun, especially for free.

I'd recommend The Swapper if you like the general story and tone of the The Talos Principle. It's also a puzzler with some action elements, albeit a 2D one with wildly different mechanics. I played The Swapper first, and the general atmosphere and presentation of the story definitely felt similar to The Talos Principle.

Hell, (TP spoiler) TP even has a The Swapper easter egg in it.

Edit: Silly me, just realized that TP and The Swapper were written by the same lead writer! That explains the similar tone and presentation quite well...
