Yes, puzzles are that good.
The game is designed so you can skip any troublesome puzzles and come back to them later. In fact, I think some of the early red puzzles might intentionally be a higher difficulty to encourage you to skip around and do puzzles out of order.
Aside from that, there are a few star puzzles that can be especially tricky, ranging from "I didn't even know there was a puzzle here" to "I know exactly what I need to do, but aaAAAHH!" But the star puzzles are all optional (unless you are a completionist) and you can also play through puzzles in the Talos promotional game Sigils of Elohim to unlock up to three extra stars, although a lot of posts on the Sigils of Elohim steam discussion board that apparently the codes are not working properly.
