Is the star ending worth it? No spoilers please
The first two endings were pretty straightforward, but finding those stars is getting to be a bear. It's probably taking me 5x to 10x longer to get the stars than all the rest of the game. I'm now at 26/30 stars and exhaustion is setting in...meticulously checking every square foot over and over again is really no fun. I'm finding a ton of easter eggs but at this point I couldn't care less about those and am just grimly soldiering on.

My question: is the star ending worth it? I've made it this far with no hints or spoilers, but if it's a throw away ending I'm thinking I might just give up...

If you don't enjoy solving the extra puzzles, then you won't enjoy the ending.

Thanks for the feedback. My problem isn't solving the puzzles. My problem is finding the puzzles. If I can find them, I can solve them. After dozens of hours looking for every last star, my enthusiasm has greatly waned.

Finding the puzzles is also part of the puzzle ;)
I am not finding every star either (not so far) but I return trying to look at the layouts differently.
Sometimes you have to think out of the box and dont read if you dont want spoiler of ideas. explore and/or use external areas to access inside areas, walk on walls and energy gates, roofs, cross beams from area to area to gain access, etc. dont read if you dont want spoiler of ideas
I believe you found many, all or even more than these solutions yourself but I set it as spoiler for others that may not want to have these ideas spoiled.

I am enjoying this puzzling exploration too.

I found most of the stars, but for the few missing, I just used some video on youtube to find their location, then I tried to solve the puzzle myself. Don't torture yourself.

In my opinion, the tower ending should have been the star ending, but I feel that the developers probably thought that many people wouldn't have solved the star ending in order to see it. For me, the star ending was anti climatic!

Thanks for the feedback guys. I went and played a few other games in my library (including Turing Test which was about 1000 times easier to 100%) and returned to this. I found two more stars! I'm now up to 28/30. Since I'm so close I will continue to torture myself I guess...

Just so I'm not disappointed, I won't expect much from the star ending.
and that's that Oct 26, 2020 @ 11:06pm
star ending is not worth it, it’s underwhelming, stars are not hidden in meaningless places, you’ll come across them as you play or you'll discover separate puzzles for them, but it's still worth exploring the maps just for the collectibles and secrets

Update: I found the 29th star on my own, but could not find the 30th star. I probably poured more time into trying to find that 30th star than I did playing most entire games.

So finally I gave up and cheated and found a hint on the internet. I'm glad I did because I was looking in the wrong places. Anyway, even with the hint it took me an hour to find the last star.

Anyway...I liked the star ending. The "real" ending is of course the best, but I felt this ending actually was very good and complemented the other two.

Was it "worth" it? Considering I've played this game 68.3 hours so far, and probably 80-90% of that was looking for stars, it probably wasn't worth it just for the ending. If I had to do it all over again, I'd probably just look up hints for where to find the stars, and focus my energy on just solving the puzzles instead of spending so much time wandering around trying to find the stars on my own.

Next: Road to Gehenna. (I wanted to finish the stars before starting that.)

Good news! In Road to Gehenna the star ending is totally worth it, and you don't need to find every single star to get it.
