The second star in A3
Is it true you have to have some sort of UPC code scanner to get the information from the back of the clock, or did I miss something?

That is true. You'd need a QR reader to read the one code in this area. If you have a smartphone, it should be easy to find a free one to download. If you don't it's fairly easy to get the information online.

There's a fair amount of other stuff outside-the-game that you need to do to figure this one out as well. It's a bit unreasonable IMO.

My phone is a phone and no smarter than me.

I've been translating some of the corrupted documents from hex to ascii, and a lot of it seems to be Elohim saying he will create a new heaven and the former will not be remembered or bits and pieces of that sort of thing. I went through the game once fast, and doing the minimum. Now I'm trying to uncover everything.

If it wasn't hard, then just anybody could do it, right?

If you have a QR scanner and receive the clue it gives, there are other clues later in the game. There is a whole area in section B dedicated to hinting at the answer. I get the impression that the devs are fans of that particular thing. Wow.... that was cryptic.

The point is I don't have a QR scanner, and any game should be self contained and not require other things from the real world (other than knowledge) just to get through it.

There are online QR code readers. Recreate the code in paint. Put the code into the site. Profit.

Yeah, manually copying more than 900 pixels arranged in non-human-readable abstract patterns seems like a reasonable idea.
Oh no! It might take you a couple minutes work to recreate from a screenshot! How horrible!

It is still an unnecessary hassle. Add to that, if you exit the game, it resets all the venues in the current area. That creates more problems when you need one of the setups to get a star. I have managed to toggle the game, but it doesn't always work. All the other QR codes display by hovering over them, why not this one? And why tie it to information on an event that happened almost 50 years ago?

Erm... because it was an important milestone in human development maybe?

It isn't a milestone in development at all, just one of accomplishment. There are many others to choose from. This one was chosen for it's immediate recognition, then demands an insignificant detail from it which forces you to go to a source outside the game. Said detail then has to be stated in adjusted universal time. I watched it live on TV at 2:30AM my local time or rather, 02:18, to be more precise., but the game insists on universality. Yes I know it aims at an international audience. The QR code should just popup the information just ike all the others. The developers can't possibly believe everyone that plays this game will have some way of decoding these things. If they believed that, none of them would popup their contents.

Opinion =/= fact. It's your opinion that it wasn't a milestone. That's great! It's mine that it is. That's also great. It appears that the developers thought it was important so they included it in the game.

We've already covered the fact that anyone playing this on a computer has a way to look up QR codes without a phone. You're just too lazy to do it. Doesn't mean everyone else is.
Whitebeard Aug 23, 2017 @ 10:58pm
I am too stubborn to do it, and YouTube is the easiest way for the lazy.

A development, Latharion, is something like five fingers or a multi lobed brain. An accomplishment is a physical feat performed in time and space. One is evolution; the other is history. The moon landing is a milestone in history, not in human development.
