Can I run this game with 2GB of VRAM?
With a gtx 960 or something like that?

Sure just lower them texture settings to an appropriate setting.

Drop all the GPU memory settings to their minimum to start, and I'd also consider upscaling from 720p or 900p to 1080p using the FidelityX CAS upscaling option. That will give you back some performance and it will look nearly identical to native 1080p. I personally do this from 900p to 1440p and it looks pretty good.

If the game is running buttery smooth at that point. you can try playing with the texture resolution or the shadow size setting in the GPU Speed menu to see if you can get away with it. Personally though, I would try to squeeze in MSAA if possible, as the game has pretty bad aliasing without it and there aren't really any decent alternatives that aren't costly.

If dropping the GPU memory settings to minimum doesn't work initially, then use the Auto-detect function and go from there. It will take a lot of tinkering and experimenting, but you will eventually figure out the optimized settings for your hardware.

It works fairly well for me GeForce MX250 on a laptop, with 2GB VRAM. FPS is around 30-40; in some places it drops below 20 but it's quite rare.

Some recommendations from my personal experiences:
* set API to DX11. Everything else either made the game look horrible, or made it crash (usually in cutscenes)
* set everything to lowest or low.
* Under CPU customizations, make sure "disable dynamic lighting" is unticked, otherwise the game looks horrible. Croteam warned me to watch out for fps drop, but for me it's not substantial. They also said they are looking to fix the bad look. I also enabled refractions and shockwaves, these don't seem to cause problems but do make the game look a lot cooler.
* disable triple buffering.
gfx_bTrippleBuffering = 0
This should make the game more responsive (reduce input lag by one frame), through it may stutter a bit more.
* i have also disabled anti-microstuttering (sim_iFixMicroStuttering = 0), because what's the point if i already have major stutter anyway, in a form of low fps... I'm not sure if it makes any difference.

And i think fps may have been also improved in the course of updates. It's hard to tell, as i still haven't finished the game, so all the time i play in new locations, so fps comparisons make no sense... but there is an overall tendency of improvement towards the end.
