It can, but doesn't have to. One of our testers has also been running it on Windows 7, and that's great. It's just that we can't guarantee it will run.

I can confirm it too, game runs without any problems so far (completed 2,5 levels) on my Windows 7. Also my specs are just a bit higher than minimal requirements, and I can play comfortably on medium settings, so I really can't understand what all these optimization threads are about.

I am finding it much more cpu intensive by far compared to SS fusion, my 8 core 6900K has all 8 cores doing about 40% workload each and CPU 0 @ 100%, but not much hyper-threading use so far. The auto detect set my settings to ultra on everything but I had to tone down things to high in a few settings to get better framerates. Vulkan seems better for me than DX11 but there are still slowdowns and some choppiness in certain areas. I think there is definately room for some further optimization which I'm assuming will be out in the coming weeks. I may try just going to high settings overall and see how that is for now. Im still not clear on why Danny is so leary of Windows 7 since Vulkan is one of their recommended API's.

Your statement is False. It was around 9 months ago that last few security updates were released before Microsoft declared end of life. Support for Windows 7 ended on January 14th, 2020.

I played on Win7 and it had great results. Need to mention that with DirectX 11 it crushed at the prologue sequence. Changing to Vulcan solved this issue.

its excellent to hear that devs are still currently and planning to support win 7 and dx11 for the future
my hope is M$ decides to bring more dx12 support to win7 like in world of warcaft. clearly its possible.

There is no reason to consider Windows 7 obsolete. There is nothing fundamentally new or useful in Windows 10 and 11. In these ♥♥♥♥♥♥ versions, the interface, control and user tracking tools are completely damaged. The user loses control of his computer with them. This is why they are being imposed on us. All software can easily run on Windows 7, all restrictions are artificial.
