Origin Achievement Hunting
Achievement for learning the origin of the infection.

So according to Steam Global Achievement tracking 0% of players have this achievement. That's crazy, not a single person who has this game has found it? Is anyone hunting for it, and clues? I'm just about finished my first campaign playthrough with barely any idea how to go about getting this achievement.

The only campaign missions that have stood out so far is the Hope location, obviously, but earlier when you first meet the Government and Rotten, there is some lore quests going on there with experimentation that I didn't fully explore because I finished the scenario too quickly.

Theories:
Finish the entire campaign and sweep every block of every city while you do it (total ownership of every city instead of moving on to the next as soon as its possible to do).
Finish entire campaign on Impossible from start to finish (ugh I hope not).
Talk to the right faction in the right scenario and get the right lore triggers (Government, Rotten, and Cultists are the most logical factions for this).

Is it even embedded into the campaign? If it's buried in solo/skirmish mode, cranking up the map size to maximum opens up all kinds of possibilities.

i think its when you get the data from the goverment to get the sercet data. im not sure but could be that have something to do with it

I believe you need 3 things to find the origin of the disease.
1. Rufus' dads research
2. Data Dara helps you steal from Davis
3. Monkey blood
I have no idea how to get the last one, so when I get to Vancouver Jesse tells me we're doomed.

Would also like to know where monkey blood is and how origin achievement is gained.

Damn, NOBODY has found that yet? It's not supposed to be that well hidden. I might have to make it a bit easier...

Oh snap it's the bossman... er woman... herself in my thread. I am honored!

But yes, I'm pretty sure literally no one has this achievement. The way Steam achievements work is they 'tick up' to 0.1% as soon as the first person gets it. I was hunting for some of the very first crazy X-Com Enemy Unknown achivements, and as soon as anyone got it, it went from 0% to 0.1%, the smallest possible number for global tracking to display.

And as that link shows us, Origin is definitely at 0%, as of this writing. If it was easier to get that wouldn't be bad, but once in a while it's fun to hunt for a true achievement rather than get automatic achievements games like to just hand out. Maybe just drop some hints instead of making the mechanical process easier? :D

Either way, fantastic little game, it's come so far from the little flash game I first played years ago. Lookin forward to post release updates and content though. I'm a DLC maker and DLC buyer both! (Let us buy or mod in additional survivor appearances please!)

I replayed the entire campaign and got two different endings, but still no Monkey Blood. I tried making nice with the cultists and hung around in just about all of the cities well after I captured them all in case there was another quest or something, but no luck. I agree with Kerensky, I love working for my achievements - can we have a couple of hints? It seems we're all pretty lost!
Mad Hatter Jun 3, 2015 @ 9:05pm
i've gotten 3 different endings so far, but have yet to find the monkey blood.

unsure if that produces the same result as the berries
I, uh. I didn't find any of the research items at all, but I still got the good ending, because after Jesse showed up in Vancouver, I still got the research option to devise the cure. (I am reasonably sure this is a bug.)

Please, please, please don't make it easier. Some achievements should only be made so only a rare few get it. I have restarted my game ever since 1.0 was released, so I fully expect to try my hand at getting that achievement and Vancouver.

It's not about making it easier, it's about making it do-able. One shouldn't have to crowd source the solution to a game, particularly to a single player game.

Difficulty is getting 50 headshots in a row. This is just crappy trial and error reverse engineering - that's not difficult, just tedious and time consuming.

In any case, once we know the answer anyone at all will be able to look up the solution with a quick reference to the wiki.

This is just word play to suit your tastes. No one has earned the achievement which was the point of my post. There is no evidence to the contrary yet. Eventually someone will achieve it but it shouldn't be made easier to achieve.

i had some different endings, but so far no monkey blood. I guess it's somewhere before the final 2 missions, as in both of them Jesse asks you for it. Still, I didn't find anything so far.

You know... The data mentioned that the chimp blood only worked on chimps.

So wouldn't it make more sense to test an immune human's blood? Maybe there's a hidden event in a Hospital or Laboratory somewhere. That's muh theory anyway, rawr. :3

If it turns out I'm right, I better get closed alpha/beta testing to Rebuild 7. ¬_¬

Where and how do you get the data from Davis? When talking to Jesse, I only had Rufus's dad's research.
