Played this with my husband and it def has some cool mechanics but it gets very stale very fast. The game is missing something . I felt there was no reason for me to try and do harder content , no incentive . It needs a progression system or something. There isnt much explanation on how to get blueprints for weapons etc. Idk , i played for like 2ish hours and for 30 bucks it was fine but i wouldnt recommend this to anyone until they finish the game. ATM it feels very unfinished. I hated that my weapons i found would just disappear. it made runs feel absolutely useless. I stopped playing bc i had no reason to try to progress and if there is a way its not explained.

Worth the dollar/hour value, however, I fail to see any longevity for this game. It won't retain a playerbase on just new knife skins and most players will probably leave once they hit the max level (30) as there's nothing else to do after that point, but repeat the same missions over and over

The premise and ambiance of this game was fun, and I really wanted to like it. However, this was purchased with the intention of primarily playing in multiplayer mode, which since the last patch, has become completely unusable even after extensive troubleshooting. We have only 4 hours of play time in, and can no longer proceed, which is unfortunate. Because of this, certainly can't recommend the $30 investment for a game where a primary method of play does not work at all.

Really enjoy the game and would recommend it to all people who likes it a bit spooky but still interesting, would also like to give a big shoutout to the flies coming onto the screen because I've fallen for it almost every single time!! They look like they're real and that's just an amazing job to whoever designed them lol!

Love the idea of this game, but it needs serious work on all the bugs. So far, I have played through 3 or 4 sections of the map. We have had to restart the game after almost every round. I'm on PC and I frequently get caught in a glitch at the weapon upgrade table if I have a weapon I can't upgrade yet. The console players I play with get black screens after every other round. The PS5 user lag spikes like crazy. There is no option to add friends or invite friends currently. The menu is broken. Even when loading the game, I had to disable Intel's AI to even open the game. It would get stuck on a fog screen. Once these things are worked out, I think this will be a really fun game to play.

Was really excited to try. Clunky controls, poor performance, and boring gameplay mechanics. Just another boring extraction game.

I want to love this game. I really want to. But currently, there are some aspects that make the game a minimum - Frustrating, and at worse - Unplayable

The Positives: Let me start out by saying that I love the concept, it feels so unique and refreshing for a co-op horror survival to actually be downright terrifying through atmosphere alone rather than relying on jumpscares, with audio cues and a daunting feeling of dread from the visuals, it genuinely feels like you're being watched. The scenery is breath takingly beautiful while mixing well with Lovecraftian horror art elements that makes the island actually feel living and breathing. Teamwork is a necessity as splitting up isn't just a detriment to the team, but the player himself, as the lone player is usually either punished by enemies that seek out isolated players or the isolation system drives a players insanity up the walls. The isolation system making players insane is a genius concept as it makes the player himself distrust what he sees. He could see his ally turn into an undead mid combat and in the scuffle mistake him as an enemy. The player could wander the forest, see a tree or an ally, but when going up to it, its revealed to be a monster. Mechanics like that promote teamwork and communication at all times while punishing a dysfunctional group where every player has main character syndrome. The goal of what the game is trying to accomplish is awesome, the visuals and audio is phenomenal and it makes me want to explore this island even further.

Now the negatives: The gameplay is... Very subpar. Its a mix the devs have trouble on determining how they want the difficulty to scale along with very poor combative mechanics. Regardless of what weapons you use, how heavy they feel or what damage the do, enemies on average will face tank the hit and respond with a few hits of their own, and unless you're wearing armor at the time, you'll find yourself losing a whole bar of health. Blocking a hit and reposting doesn't stun them either or do any kind of bonus damage, even shoving, the most basic combat maneuver of any combat system seems to do little more than just a light attack from your weapon as even when they do the animation of staggering back, they leap forward for a free hit (Which you are vulnerable for because you cannot block until your attack frames have ended). Combat is clunky and often comes down to just abusing ranged weapons or a battle of attrition. There is no dodge, no parry, no mercy. I understand that its survival horror first and not an action game, and the game itself says sometimes its best to avoid combat outright rather than fight. But its not a good design for the game to have the undead run faster than you and even are able to tackle you, which leaves you at the mercy of the rest of the hoard chasing you, you have little answer when it comes to encountering the dead. Either you enter combat, just swing until one of you are dead (And if its more than three enemies, you might as well be) Or retreat from the dead but get run down anyway. As for the scaling, I've made it to my first temple of the game and by God I regret it... Now the monsters who are rather tanky and annoying to fight, such as the panther looking monster and the fish looking one now spawn in my forest expeditions. I soon found out that any enemy you encounter in the game can appear in your expeditions regardless of the area. Now, this I have no actual problem with. I wouldn't mind creatures being released into the island from the temples you plunder. The problem is - I'm seeing them on even BASIC missions as well as boss creatures such as the prowler, the haunter, and the Tree creature are ALL on Basic. The Haunter alone needs an extreme rework as not only does it feel like you can't escape it due to its teleporting ability, it also is a complete run ender as it can kill you within seconds of looking at it, I'm aware that you can stun it by shooting its eye, but that's only when it opens it to subject you to its instakill attack. And even when you DO land it, when you DO stun it and run for your life, the haunter will just Teleport in front of you to finish you off A creature like THIS should not be on the most easiest difficulty. It shouldn't even be on MID.

I want to love this game and hopefully I can change my review in the future as I do want to recommend this to friends. But as it is now? I can't help but feel like I'm getting punished. Punished for doing well in an expedition, punished for progressing with the game, and punished for just breathing.

Needs a lot of work. There is no real feel of progression. Characters need to have some sort of differences, progression, skills or something. Why have the ability to rescue different characters if they are just skins? No permeant unlocks aside from skins and a couple of inventory slots. The game gets too hard too fast, there is a noise mechanic but its not really "shown". Combat is clunky and frustrating at times. I'm probably done until there are some upgrades or mod community fixes this game to actually make it fun.

I'll preface this by saying that the game needs a LOT of work. However... I really enjoy the premise, especially the neat gameplay elements tied to your sanity levels. The forest itself is absolutely gorgeous.
Give it another 6 months or so to cook and buy it then.
