Why do buildings to become abandoned?

Hi,
I have a city with about 80.000 people in it. As the city has grown bigger I get more and more buildings that get abandoned. Now I seem to spend a lot of my time just bulldozing abandoned buildngs rather than anything else. The houses that gets abandoned are evenly spread across the different areas of the city and are evenly distributed between different types of buildings,i.e. industry, housing etc. Why are the houses being abandoned? What can I do about it. Any thoughts apreciated.

There is an auto bulldozing mod, it helps. As to why it happens I dont know.

Bad idea - The buildings are abandoned for a reason. You just demolished the only way to see what the problem is.

Good idea - Find out what the problem is. Fix it - Then either demolish the building or wait for it to rebuild naturally.

I can't seem to find any info on why the building was abandoned when i select the abandoned buidling. It only states the fact that the building has been abandoned?

Hover your mouse over the abandoned icon on the top left part of the page.

There can be several reasons, though by an large most of the time it seems to be random. If you see large amounts of abandoned buildings, there's probably something more going on. The most common one I've noticed is that people leave when your taxes are too high for them.

that doesnt work for me. the building just sit there.

Often when it doesn't have workers. There was mass abandonment in buildings when I put all my education building is becuase nobody wanted to work in an uneducated position

You will get warnings before the buildings are abandoned. So scan over your city once in a while to see if/what bubbles are floating over a building. Then click on the building and it'll tell you exactly what you need to fix.

Take a screenshot of your game and upload it here, maybe we can point out what is wrong.

Abandonment can come from a variety of issues: Too few employees, not enough jobs, crime rate too high, not enough water, not enough electricity, not enough sewage, garbage piled up, pollution is making people sick and die, not enough development.

i have no problems with that lol, i was just wondering if there was a mod to auto delete all of your abandoned buildings

Look up automatic bulldoze. Activate the mod in your content manager. When you press the bulldozer button there is an option fo "bulldoze abandoned" on your lower left hand corner.

its useful as once you know why they are abandoned you can just turn it on for a couple of minutes for it to do its job...
