fix traffic lights pls
If you watch carefully, cars tend to stop roughly at traffic lights even when they are green. This creates traffic congestions. For now, 2 lane roads are the fastest because they don't create traffic lights. Traffic lights are supposed to help with traffic not make it worse and cars shouldn't stop at green.

This may be a bug, but even if it's intended, it should be dealt with because it makes no sense that smaller roads are faster than the bigger ones.

They can't even get traffic to use all 3 lanes of a highway. Traffic will never move over for emergency vehicles, since they park on the road anyways.

Traffic just over-all sucks eggs in this game.
Still better than SimCity. Mainly because they're not crowding people onto servers by forcing them to be online. The traffic imo is actually worse. Which is surprising from a company who specializes in traffic simulation.

I'm sure they'll fix it, Paradox has a history of patching their games for a long ass time.

I just noticed this Problem tonight as well. I've also noticed Cars stopping at 2 lane intersections even with no traffic around. Causes major backups on main roads.

If you have your intersections too close together, like less than 4 zone squares apart, you'll cause traffic. Reason for this is the fact that traffic won't enter an intersection if it feels it won't clear it. Just make sure it's spaced out more.

Cars stopping for green lights completely messes up traffic. I hope this will get fixed soon!

Take a close look. Pedestrians crossing the street can cause cars to stop and wait until the road is free again. Providing an overpass for pedestrians on highly frequented paths helped me a lot.

Cars stop on green light because there isn't enough space on the other side of the intersection for them to drive on. Or they are turning and there is pedestrians crossing the road.

The only fix for the taffic lights what is badly needed is the 4 phase operation allowing turning on separate time from straight going traffic. Now left turning traffic collides with the opposite straight going traffic and slows the intersection down badly.

Ah, yes. The cars stopped because the road segment after the crossing was very short. I was able to fix the problem by converting the double 2 lane one-way roads into a 4-lane road, but unfortunately it doesn't look very good...

Well almost a year later Cims still don't know how to move over for emergency vehicles, or emergency vehicles still don't utilize empty lanes beside plugged up turning lanes if they have to turn.

Problem I have with pedestrian paths is that they take up lots of space for the ramps especially if they have to be 9m+ in hight in order to clear traffic lights. Perhaps someone could come up with spiral stairs or staircases; I have seen elevators for elevated tracs.

This is true..they patched the crap out of some of their games..they will probably fix it eventually.

there are "rumors" going around that say the next "big" update/dlc will be around traffic. These are just "rumors" though.

that would be pretty awesome..does the rumour say if it will be paid DLC or free?

Try the Traffic President mod. You can time your traffic lights and restrict some ped crossings. Make turning lanes that are timed. You can also build ped ramps below ground. Dont need the mod for that. imagine synchcronized traffic lights. Also look for the elevators for raised ped crossings they take much less space to place but need flat ground or use Road Anarchy mod to place them. Beware the elevators there are different type. There is one for 2 lane divided roads for trams going down the middle of the road. And yes traffic sucks with these mods too. Less intersections is the real thing to work on to improve traffic flow especially in downtown areas
