What's That *One* Problem in Your City?
What is that one little problem in your city? Maybe it was something small, and you didn't notice until it was too late. For instance, I had set a certain piece of highway ramp to a "priority road" at some point. I was wondering why the traffic on the main highway was jammed, but the ramp was free-flowing. It was because the main highway for my city had a stop sign placed under the interchange and I couldn't see it until I took a peek. Yikes! Any other stories?

Yeah. A section of highway in the opposite direction hidden under a bridge. Can't recall what map anymore, but I was way into the 200ks before I noticed it was screwing my city.

Another was a railway line under water that didn't quite connect. Worked for ages until it didn't, and took me days to discover why trains stopped working.

Both make me do toothpick checks whenever I build transit.

Low land value. I hate when this pops up, and there's no reason. There's parks, schools, fire dept, police, school..... So, I just delete them and say to them, if you don't like it here get the hell out.

The one thing that frustrates me and causes problems is having to lay power and water - CS2 does this almost automatically (but bugger-all else) - is there a vanilla mod that addresses this for CS1?

My mistakes usually occur after playing for a long time, when the city has 100K inhabitants or more. Waves of death and absolute traffic chaos. Especially in the city center, where there is usually a lot of public transport and main hubs, I can't and don't want to tear everything down and build new ones, that's usually the end of the city for me.

This was one of the first things a mod was created for, lol. We used to use 2 mods called "no pipes" and "no poles" etc, and there was also electric roads I think did poles.

I think Game Anarchy does it now, but can't boot up game to check at the moment so you'd need to or let someone confirm.

The 81 Tiles 2 mod has this functionality. If you do not want the added tiles, simply do not buy them.

I wasn't exactly certain, and too many assets is turning me off the game to load to check, sorry. Thanks my betters did.

Some games will have spotty outside connections with either passengers or cargo other than the highways. Other games will have near-continuous usage of both connections. Some games will have decent usage of one type of outside connection, but ignore all others (ie: cargo uses rail without issue, but ignores air & sea). Some games will alternate between saves/loads if the connections will be used or not.
