Want to rebuild roads but...forget it.
My city is big now. I began as a simply person who built roads without proper planning to save time and money, now I think it's time to change my roads layout since i have 100k money now. But I can't change most of them because of service buildings next to them... So there is whole lot of mess in my mind on how to start changing them. Any suggestion on how should I start? Just bulldoze the service buildings and start from nothing?

All service buildings can be moved for a fee, its cheaper than demolishing and rebuilding. Its the icon on the bottom left of the buildings properties page.

It's just like the real world. If you want to make an omlette you've gotta break a lot of eggs! Have fun "major roadworks ahead- expect delays" 10 mile tailbacks!

Build a part of a new road, whether wider or in a new location, whatever. Then use the move function on each of your service buildings near the new road to relocate them on the newer road. Moving a school or medical facility, etc., a small distance will keep your happiness levels very close to what they are now. The easiest way to do this is, as you widen roads and come to a service building, just relocate it to the new wider road, then widen where it used to be. Most buildings should only have to move a bolck or a half-block as you improve your city.

I know i can. But it is irritating to move all service buildings to one side and another. But this is the only way, right? T_T

Btw, does bulldoze give some cash back?

I understand your suggestion, but what I want to do is, change all my roads layout, not just widen the current one. Which mean i will have to destroy most part (almost all) of my roads and the 3 zones also.

So i guess I will have to build a new road at a side, move all my service buildings to the new location first.

You can also build roads underground.

do it step by step, beginn at one side demolishing and rebuild behind. for critical places pause the game.
