I love the Blimps, but why are they so broken?
I am not sure why but my citizens LOVE blimps. I have tons of public transport, good traffic in about 85-90% range. Yet I get hundreds of people waiting for blimps. Even maxing out the budget to 15 blimps it just can't keep up. All 15 blimps are full and hundreds of people are waiting for pick up.

The Budget is awful too, spend over 2k a week and make 284 in fares... Is there something wrong with the AI? I mean I have metro, bus, monorail and trains but every one wants to take the Blimp. Does building more blimp Depot's increase their number at all? Cause even at max budget mine just can't keep up.

Could it be how you are using the blimps? I always think of them as touristy kind of thing or for those "Can't get there from here" situations. It would seem that the blimps path is the quickest path to somewhere good. I would follow the majority or large group offing the blimp and find the common place they are going to. Then try to improve with existing transport options or perhaps you will need to build a express or shuttle run between these spots.

I am curious if it's because I clicked the "Educational Blimp" option in the policies. I thought it helped educate people who saw the blimp, but maybe it's people who ride it?

It can't be the fastest way there. The main point of interest is my Tourism/leisure area. But the Blimp stop is right next to a train and metro stop. There are tons of options other than blimps but they love it for some reason.

Only other thing I can think of is I chose the High Fair policy to lower the demand I had on Bus and other public transportation. People were flooding them so bad it wasn't possible to keep up, and it caused a lot of them to miss work or give up as they waited. So maybe the high fair for public transport doesn't affect blimps and they are all rushing to them?

That's an interesting thought.
Edit: if you find no resolve post a screenshot of transit layer that shows the blimps route complete, possibly. I wouldn't doubt they are all tourists.

Well I found a way to add more blimps, just add another line to the same route going the opposite way. Doesn't help too much as blimps are slow to load/unload and only one can be on the platform at a time. Actually making traffic with blimps, waiting to unload. Another funny flaw is the line manager says my weekly traffic is 50 or so, yet I have 400+ waiting at stops and every blimp is full most the time.

Here first picture with the line manager open to show the real numbers.

Second without. Btw I kind of hate how copy past doesn't work in the Steam Launcher and I had to use the website to do this lol.

Did I do something wrong, it didn't auto make thumbnails... I just copied link location of uploaded screen shots.

The folks waiting at stops have yet to be counted. Also it matters when you look for many times I see 0 per week when I know hundreds are using the stops or stations. I do see a couple points that the blimp could be seen as the better choice regardless of speed.
I would like to ask you to share your game file for I don't know what stops have volume issues.

To do so, on the menu page for cities go into Content manager, then Gamesaves and check the file to share. Then It will be seen and found in your profile.

It's up, and labeled Justa City
Thanks =) I did notice one thing, at some point I deleted a rail line so the passenger train within the city no longer works. I think it was something I did but forgot to save. Still odd and I really wish blimps had bigger capacity than 35 for how big and slow they are.

In order to increase the capacity of transit vehicles there is this mod.

if you were to use mods.
I did find it helped or band-aided your issue with over crowded stops, but. There are so many blimps they are piling up at the stops and looking odd doing so.
I shall have more time to investigate later. I see odd things like two Mono Rail stations close enough that citizens could walk easier between them. And the same with two of the blimp stops, I drew a path between them and they would rather walk which emptied the blimp between these two stops. These citizens like to walk and will walk a fair distance on a path. Your Blimps are being used as a transit short cut to other transit options. I will mess with the save and see if I can remedy the issue somewhat.

Cool, still just odd how over all other options they want to take the blimp, other public transit isn't like this by and large. One thing I did in further version of this to help is I put another blimp depot near the bottom so all bimps didn't pile up from one point as much. I put in the train, more paths like you tried and other stuff. Still in general have hundreds of people trying to get too and from the University stop for the most part.

I think I fixed it, more or less.First I split the blimp lines at the most popular stops into a just a back and forth route. They only do one round trip between the top the hill near the school district and the bottom. I also split the line by adding a second stop nearby to roughly the same place and enough people chose one over the other it made it more possible. This also prevented blimps from backing up as the liens generally maxed out at about 5 blimps with only 2 stops.

But the real kicker was cable cars. I could get upwards of 800+ passengers a week on a cable car line as they are much faster and carry as much as blimp in each car. For what ever reason people would choose blimps over trains, metro etc. But I think because cable cars are also attractive to Tourist they were willing to take them.

Nice! They are very slow indeed. Having line with 7-8 stops is rather torturous as you see now. I have yet to open the save but just I know you figured it out just fine. Everything has its place and blimps have their place too just not for mass transit. Thanks for the save.

Hey Justa Guy,In your Victoria district you have a train, mono and metro and blimp stops all wanting to shop in your commercial area. I drew a path here and you should do this and see what happens. Draw this path and see for yourself. Here's a shot to use

Also your mono tracks should be smoother curves to improve the speed of the trains.
