What % are playing with money enabled? And why or why not?
In the past, I used to play for money and suggested beginners do as it acts like guard rails to teach about the game mechanics (at least until the mid game). But now I feel I know the game and mechanics ... money would just be a constraint until the first couple of super industry cash cows get off the ground. Thus, I find unlimited money kind of liberating and I like not worrying if building and bulldozing is done multiple times as I work on some construct ... also even with the cash cow approach ... subsets of the city like a university or park should have to be profitable, but the game only tracks city profit and not entity profit. So, playing for money does not seem too realistic in the way money really works.

Finally, unlike many strategy games which introduce mechanics to prevent steamrolling and snowballing, all CS has is traffic congestion to bite the megalomaniac which is far more challenging than money. I would say if you turned off traffic, then you are really cheating and just sandboxing. But money, nah ...

In am also interested in 9/25/81 tiles? I am doing 25 as I understand 81 has a few quirks and I don't know if my PC could handle a full 81 tile build. I would be surprised if it did.

I am playing with locked milestones. Are you? (mainly I think it is too easy to get ahead of oneself with that turned off)

PS: I have all DLCs and play mainly with tool mods, and very limited asset mods.

BTW, I was previously mainly a wargamer, but war is feeling too close to be entertaining these days.

Thanks.

I started on PS4 (obviously vanilla) with no ingame Mods like unlimited money, got all achievements.
Now on PC i play on 81tiles with ~50Mods (incl. unlimited money) and ~2.500 assets.

I played one city with unlimited money once but never again. The game just felt empty without it. I ended up turning it back on and playing my way out of debt.

I cut so much (boring stuff) out of 'the game' as it is already so taking away the need to watch money early on just removes one of the remaining challenges. Once established I then like to watch it grow .. and grow .. and grow.

One day, Rodney, we'll be billionaires!

I don't even try to "play the game". Oh, I went threw all the steps to see how things work like everyone else. However, I didn't buy CS to play the game but to build representations for a particular set of presentations. So... Any thing or any way it takes to get to the desired conclusion quickly and easily, with the fewest distractions, while still maintaining an acceptable degree of control is the preferred way to go. imo :)

For me starting to build a city with unlimited money is every bit as unrealistic as starting out with 75,000. For that reason and those above I prefer to start with the more realistic amount of 21,000,000.

It's just not fun with with unlimited Money now i do choose to start with a more grounded amount of money ($250,000) anything more than that is tooo much

250k ? Have you visited a lumber yard lately? Depending on what part of the country you're talking about. 250k - A house maybe, but only one. A city? Dream on.

I play mostly only with Unlimited Money, plus a lot of other mods that disable or modify other ingame mechanics. I want to create cities my way, and while it is not hard to make money or satisfy people needs, playing according to these mechanics greatly restricts playability.

Only unlimited money. Its more of a city designer and traffic management type of game for me, I'm not looking for gameplay or city management

I bought the game for the challenges. I enjoy planning and having to think my way through growth and success so I have never enabled "unlimited" anything. Imho, playing with milestones unlocked defeats the purpose of the game.
I have a few DLCs but no workshop mods to make anything easier (mostly due to limited computer resources). I still manage to create some decent-looking cities though.
It's really not difficult to make money especially with Parklife and Industries, however, keeping traffic freely flowing is really the crux of CS.

I tried unlimited money; I totally understand the appeal, but I prefer playing without it (I typically play without any mods at all - until I run out of space, at which point I'll enable 25 tile.)

Currently, I'm playing with unlimited money. I had an idea to make am island city and I didn't want any constraints. But I like playing the game with limited money and such, too. I don't think it matters how you play. To each their own.

Unlimited.

I build and landscape a LOT! I like just building huge cities with massive transport options, but I also like building lots of small towns and villages....

I only have 1 city with unlimited money enabled. I like the challenge of not going bankrupt then making lots of money.

I always play vanilla starts. I would play too fast with unlimited money and will cause myself too many problems by building too fast, then I find I have to sit idle while I twiddle my thumbs waiting for my city to mature.

With no unlocks, I can will have to build slowly and mature my city quickly, as I won't be able to expand fast. With starting a new city, you get basically zero education and it takes so long to graduate your first citizens past 50% (around 10k or so) before you have a good seeded and viable city to build around.

Plus I like going through the unlocks. I was hoping they would add more. But, I guess there is enough already.

Unlimited money seems boring to me, it takes away one of the challenges of this game. I have found that once you reach a certain point in development (usually with at least 60k - 70k population), if you've designed your city right, you basically have all the money you need. If you spend any amount of it, you gain it back pretty rapidly by letting the simulation run, even if you are redeveloping and changing large swaths of your city's developed and established land.

Interesting from watching YouTube, I would have thought unlimited money was more common.

When I am looking for building for financial and other challenges I play Tropico 1/4/6.

Of course, I have watched Spiffin Brit enough to know even Tic-Tac-Toe, he would find a way to earn a fortune. :)
