In the past I have subscribed to an intersection which I placed in my city then subsequently unsubscribed from the intersection without a problem. However, I am subscribed to NE2 and have Mass Transit DLC.
Like it said, it ONLY LOADS assets used on your map. If they aren't loading, then they haven't been placed on the current map yet. The ones in your menus are the ones already placed in your city somewhere.
But that option keeps you from adding anything new to your city that is from the workshop. i.e. Assets only.
Mods still load all of their assets if they come with them, as mods are loaded before assets, along with loading screen mod.
This is the answer. Intersections aren't assets in the same way as buildings. Think of them more as a blueprint. Once placed, it doesn't matter what happens with the intersection assets. If you unsubscribe it, the roads placed in your city stay where they are. :)
Depends on what your needs are. I want access to everything I'm subscribed to, so I have it checked all the time. I use Steam collections to swap to other sets of assets when I am building a different city with different needs. But you can save RAM if you have things enabled that you don't want to use in your city. You could also just disable them though and leave that option checked. Whatever works best for you.
