How'd you get people to walk on quays?
HI,

question's in the title.

I can't get anyone to use my quays, whatever I do. My sims just refuse to use them. I must be doing something wrong, just don't know what.

Anyone able to shed some light on the issue?

Thanks

Frank

I don´t think that the cims can walk on quays.

So you either need to build a pedestrian pathway next to it or you use a quay with an integrated walkway from the workshop.

I recommend this one:

Firstly, they are quay walls and people do not generally walk on walls ;)
However, if you want them to, then you will have to build a path on top of the quaywall... and if you want to see them do so, then you'll have to make sure the path leads to a destination they wish to visit.
Here's a previous discussion, where I demonstrated a variety of paths on walls...

There are various quay walls on the workshop that allow people to walk on them. Avanya has a few I believe.
You night also want to take a look at "Invisible Ped paths" on the workshop.

It depends on the quay you're trying to get them to walk on. Some (like mine) support having pedestrians walk on them, in which case it's a question of connecting a path to them. That's done similarly to roads - so you just draw a path near them, then the game makes a connection itself. Like this:

Other quays do not have built in paths, so you will need an invisible pedestrian path to put "on top" of the quay. Then they'll walk on that. To do that you will need Move It and an invisible pedestrian path from the workshop. And it's best to build a visible path first, then upgrade it. So you can actually see what you're doing to start with. :P

Lastly citizens need a reason to use a quay. They don't just go there to look at the water. Whether the path is built in or added on stop, they will only use it if it's the fastest way to their destination. So if there's nothing along the quay they need to go to, they won't go there.
