Excessive Load times / Freezing / Crashing
For the last 2 days I've been have numerous problems very excessive load times (almost 2 hours on one attempt today, including starting a new game, not just load a saved one); I have about 30 MODs, my PC is a HP with 8GB RAM & 1TB HDD, the HDD is less than Half used; yes internet is slow at times as there's upto 4 of us using it at once, and is already on max speed for our area; To be honest I love this game in itself, highly addictive, but...getting very dissolutioned by all this going on as I haven't been able to enjoy it for the last couple of days...any ideas will be appreciated, Thanks

What is the actual whole specs of your computer? Your CPU is more than likely your bottleneck

Use Loading Screen Mod to benefit from it‘s optimized RAM capacity features:

Close any other application not needed before launching the game. Reduce or avoid use of custom content from the workshop. If you can‘t then you need to consider adding more RAM to your computer.

@sindar thanks for the tip

The CPU is the bottleneck, it's not terrible, people play on worse but your playing on a notebook or laptop I assume with the specs, heat is your biggest factor the hotter it gets the slower it will run. Do not cover any vents, keep on a hard flat surface. The CPU is a single channel, meaning if you upgrade your ram, you will need to get rid of the 8gb and get a 16gb stick, which is recommended for the game to use workshop items and mods. The loading screen mod should cut your times in half or more.

Actually I'm using a Hewlett Packard all-in-one desktop, but it sounds as if the current CPU can't cope with the size of the game...but I will source a larger RAM as suggested, Thanks

@dadyrghluv69 some good advice +1

I would also suggest malware and spyware scans to be run if your sharing that laptop, their the biggest drain on pc resources, try to close any apps and browsers when gaming and focus on freeing up as many resources for the game as possible until you can upgrade.

Also take a look nto Razor Cortex, it will stop all uneeded apps and services and is a one click solution rather than having to go into the services and stop them one by one yourself.

Also consider error scans and try to get windows running as best as you can, before you start gaming, run spyware/malware scans, then reboot the laptop so you free all available resources, then open your game with Razor Cortex, you should see some performance boost if you do this everytime.

I have an i7 6700k and it's a very good CPU for the money, and it cant cope at times with large maps with 81 tiles and 600k. You would need a NASA computer to run this game efficiently so dont get discouraged with the specs so much, the better cpu and faster ram you get, the better you will be. The game doesnt really need the latest and greatest video card as it's not graphics intensive. If you can squeeze 20 or 25fps out of this game consistently with a large city, your doing better than 80% who play it

A NASA computer won't help you either, the games limits are capped at a certain point to allow a more level playing field across the board for lower to higher end machines.

I use Macafee Total Security, and I run frequent scans anyways, minimum once a week automatically as a matter of course, often in between too...I'm nothing anywhere near an IT expert or such like, I'm not familiar with "Razor Cortex"

If you follow my guide above you'll get a better gaming experience but this game is heavy on the ram and cpu, so having a machine thats capable is important for the best experience.

You don't need to be a pc tech to take care of your pc, just follow simple guides that help maintain and keep your pc running at its prime.

Clean up software like CCleaner (free)
Malware and Spyware software like Anti Malwarebytes (free)
Error checking with windows (Free)
If you have an older drive not SSD or NVMe then defrag after scanning on a regular basis (Free)

Then finally Razor Cortex https://www.razer.com/cortex

EDIT: Typo
