In Game Screenshots F12 Does Not Work
I cannot take in game screenshots using the Steam overlay function for some reason though it works in other games. Is there a solution for this. I even tried a different key and no images were saved.

Check your Steam Settings (above right). Make sure the steam Overlay is enabled.
You should be able to use the default F12 to take screenshots in game... I should know, I've taken around 2,000 lol.
If not, then it's probably due to a mod conflict.

It is enabled and this was happening before any mods.

The Game has it's own keybind for screenshots. under, keymapping / shared / screenshot and also High resolution screenshot.

Are you able to use Shift and Tab?

Are you bypassing the launcher with the cities.bat file? That's known to cause issues with the overlay.

Btw F12 is also the game's own screenshot key, but those screenshots end up in a different folder, namely this one:
C:\Users\YOURUSER\AppData\Local\Colossal Order\Cities_Skylines\Screenshots

Yes, I can use Shift+Tab to get to the Steam Overlay.

No, I launch the game via Steam which opens the Paradox Launcher.

Try shutting down Steam completely, then right click on it and run as administrator. Might also be worth changing the shortcut for it to something different and then back to F12 to see if that solves it.

If none of that works, I'd try a reinstall of Steam.
Can any more depress F12?

I believe the issue is that CS does not like FRAPS. If I do not use FRAPS, I can take screenshots.

I had this same issue and it was related to 3rd party audio and video software running in the background whilst the game was running. Try closing each piece of software individually until your F12 works again.

You might be onto something CyberVibes, but I am using now GeForce screenshots :)

I was nearly at the point of changing to other screenshot software but realised i wouldn't be able to upload them to my online library.

That is the issue with FRAPS, I can take screens, and video with FRAPS, but the Steam screenshot tool does not work. I have also found at least one other game that is not FRAPS friendly.

Try using OBS it's free and easy to use and doesn't conflict with the game.
