Cul-de-sacs
Would it be too much to ask for such a basic layout in any city worldwide to be made available in the base game? I know that there are mods for that, but the solution is usually convoluted compared to just having them as standard assets in the base game.

Such a petty complaint - use the asset in the Workshop. Works really well.
Such a petty complaint, the developers do not read here.

All the assets in the workshop for a simple cul-de-sac are pretty bad and require a lot of tweaking. Yes, you can make one using several mods, but why do that when it could be right there, and it's a very basic feature in any city pretty much anywhere? I don't think that is petty at all.

Maybe from where you live, but not everyone lives in a place/Country where Cul-de-sacs are common.

Is this a reason not to have them in-game?

Traffic Manager PE has a Cul-de-Sac option
it's not an asset, it's one option among many in a highly useful mod

Seriously? You either didn't search or have no clue.....

I use these myself and they are great:

Yes I saw that and tried it. It is a decent mod, but not without its problems.

1) the zoning is kind of weird, and it doesn't reflect a real cul-de-sac, unless you plop the houses or other assets directly (which requires other mods)

2) there is a problem that happens when you zoom out and the entry to the cul-de-sac disappears. The solution posted in the comments section is (yes, you guessed it) download the surface painter mod to cover the area

Now don't get me wrong, the mod is a great addition to the game, but it is still a Duct tape fix for something so basic that is lacking in the vanilla game, and in my opinion, should have been a standard asset.

except the game is not designed for cul-de-sacs to work well, every dead end in the game means pathing for service vehicles will be very inefficient and cause lots of of issues like rubbish piling up as rubbish trucks take too long to get places that they run out of time to finish their collection before reaching everyone, same issue for all other services so you get lots of rubbish, lots of crime, lots of fires and lots of dead bodies piling up.

btw it is an asset, not a mod

Anyhow, I had to build Cul-de-sac myself. Just use a road e.g. road with one single track and drag it around. Then you get a bigger circle and no problem with service vehicles

The assets that you posted are awesome, but not true residential cul-de-sacs. This is what a cul-de-sac looks like in real life.

Yes, It can be achieved in the game with a substantial amount of modding and/or assets and that is not my gripe, as I mentioned earlier. I like the many of the mods and assets provided by the community, but I don't like the micromanaging, and having to use several tools (that could potentially impact the game performance) to achieve a result that could have been coded into the base game.
I guess I will have to live with my little circles at the end of the suburban roads.
