City got broken... Asset gone whole city chaos.

My city started having intermittent water troubles when game day was coming to my varsity swimming team. I checked and the pumps were not getting any electricity (I have the electric roads mod). some roads where not "passing" on the electricity, especially at the new highway exit). Long story short, I assumed something got broken somehow (it has happened before) so I quit the game and started opened it up again, well... To my surprise I had an asset missing error (I wasnt using this asset in this game, but it pertains a series of split lanes and merge lanes...) Anyway, random streets in my city had disappeared completely, even streets from the vanilla game.
I cant find the broken/missing asset in the workshop (it's like it never existed), cant get a new loan and dont have enough money to rebuild all the streets.

Question is, have you guys seen this before?

p.s. I have googled the error code I get for the broken asset but nothing relevant shows up other than it might pertain to Highway Project, although cant find the ones I had.

Looks like they require Network Extensions 2. Make sure you are subscribed to the mod, that it's enabled and that all the roads in Options for it are enabled as well. Unsubscribing/resubscribing the mod might be worth a try in case the files have gotten corrupted in some way.

I have the ne2 active and all the other 3 dependencies it needs to work. Yet, it disappear from my game. Now I also lost a set streets I had. Things are disappearing from the game.

Well, the HWP doesnt show at all in my game (I am subscribed to it and all its dependencies and the dependencies of the dependencies). They are all active. It simply doesnt show in the streets (it was showing at first in the roundabout section). I dont know if things are getting corrupted by the day or what.
I have other workshop mods and assets in use and (so far) they work. The last time I started the game, the error message was larger but "workable". I think they come from a few intersections I subscribed to. Besides that I get the asset number. That makes it easy to find and either fix or unsubscribe.

Additional info: I dont know if it is relevant or not but I have a few very old mods (like 4 year old mods) that dont show the x to delete in-game. They are all turned off, but they might mess with the save game.

There's a handful of mods that come with the game, which can't be removed (Unlimited Money, Unlimited Soil, Unlimited Oil and Ore, Unlock All and Hard Mode). They always work since they are made by the devs. :)

I'm guessing the roads from Network Extensions 2 doesn't show up in the road menus either?

I see the first asset listed as missing a network doesn't even require mods, it just uses train tracks, so that shouldn't be broken at all! :S

Try verifying game files through Steam and let's see if that finds something. Train tracks missing could be an issue with the game files.

well, not all the mods without the x are like the ones you mention. For example, I have also a previous version of TMPE that I cant remove (so, there is the last version working and a previous one inactive but impossible to remove). Also a Fine road adjustment that I can remove (have the new one and an old one. I think I even have an old Network extensions that cant remove. It is just a mess.
I have noticed that some times if I quit the game to main menu and then reload the same save game, part of the UI is gone. For example the cog gear of settings disappear, (it can be clicked but it is invisible)... I'll see if I can get a sc of that later today (it is quite reproducible).
I'll try verifying the files now and see if that helps.

If I do a search I cant find them in Steam. They exist in my game but not in Steam (and if they are in Steam, like More beautification, for example, they show like I am not subscribed to them).

To top this nightmare, now the rivers are losing water. It's like, the water is "evaporating". I tried setting up a new water level but that doesnt do any thing, tried placing a small source of water in the river and that, well, that crashes the game completely.

I did verify the files and the game replaced a few files (i think mostly just .txt from some of the mods I have, like mod config files, at least those are the ones that appear to be modified the last). After verifying, the game still behaves crazy so I have no clue.

Hmm, at this point I think the best thing will be to do a clean install of the game and clear your workshop folder. It will mean downloading all assets and mods again (Steam should download everything you're subscribed to).

Here's how to do that:

- Uninstall the game
- Manually delete all these files and folders, if still there:

...\Steam\steamapps\common\Cities_Skylines\
...\Steam\SteamApps\workshop\content\255710\
...\AppData\Local\Colossal Order\Cities_Skylines
(first move the /saves/ folder elsewhere to keep your save games)

(To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer)

- Install the game again and see if it is any better.

If Steam doesn't download your assets and mods again, log out of it, shut it down, restart and log back in.
