Pumping water into a pond
Is there any way to do this? I've tried a few of the water pump mods, but none of them seem to actually pump any water even when connected to pipes and power.

From the natural disasters dlc, is the fresh water outlet...

or you can go to the extra landscaping mod, which has water tools to create lakes and rivers, or ponds.

Making a pond isn't particularly simple (at least in my experience) If there is no water being fed into a location (either by a source or being pumped) the pond will slowly dry up. This means you have to constantly pump water in to keep the ponds surface height.

While that might sound reasonable enough, the problem is the outlet will just keep filling until the pond overflows, so you need a way for the water to either trickle out as a stream or get pumped back out by another pump.

If you use the pump method this creates a problem where the pond acts like it has a wave machine, so don't expect a tranquil pond if it's small (it might however sort itself out on a larger lake)

Like the first responder said, use the extra landscaping mod. works like a charm. But be carefull using it, it can cause tsunami like floodings.

Not sure I want a dlc just for this. I don't plan to use any natural disasters.

I've been building canals leading into and out of lakes while keeping them level with dams. But it still requires a source of water, so it's got to go from a river to a lower river or ocean.

I build piers/seawall all around the shores so, as long as the water level doesn't get too high, I don't have to worry about flooding.

But they're ugly and not very flexible.

That DLC gives you the option to turn them off. I found it after I lost a city to a tsunami after I passed the first milestone once.

As mentioned above, the Extra Landscaping Tools mod is your friend. I created this map and all water was created by using the water spawners. You can control the water level via the water spawner so your lakes and rivers won't burst their banks.

The map editor gives you access to the spawner anyway, but for some reason they decided not to make it available in game. So Extra Landscaping Tools makes it accessible in game.

the Extra Landscaping Tools mod says it is no longer compatible with the game. Sad. Perhaps using canals to create a lake is the best bet for those of us who cannot afford DLC or don't own any.
