how do you get cims to use parking lots?
is this even possible? currently even if i place a parking lot close to a tourist attraction i get lots of cims simply driving up to their destination and despawning their vehicle on arrival. id like them to ditch their car at a close by parking lot though. is that even possible? i noticed that cims are more likely to use a parking lot if its on the same street side but its still only a fraction of all visitors. i already have road side parking disabled pretty much everywhere.

I believe the parking lots you are using are props, Eye candy only. There is another collection of parking lots found in "Park Assets". Those parking lots the citizens will park their cars at.

Here even though the third lot (to the right) is cut off there are three different parking strips. From left; a three car lot (1x1), a six car (1x3) and a 1x4 lot. All three are being used to park at while they visit the park. I was testing parking strips.

theyre all parks so functional in theory. the thing is even if i enable roadside parking right at tourist attraction cars still dont park but drive up to it then despawn so its not the parks that are the problem its the ai.

can you switch the road piece that the parking lot attaches to for a piece that does not have parking instead of disabling parking? this might be confusing the citizens. How are you disabling the parking? With a mod? Then the issue is not with the game rather the mod you are using. For I do NOT share your issue and never have.

im using traffic manager. im not really doing anything different since the last time i played some months back but i dont remember having that problem. i remember being able to build park and ride like parking lots. now peds sometimes 'visit' the parking lot but theyre not parking but despawning their car infront of the lot lmao

/e. youre my hero changing the street type sort of fixed it.

Traffic Manager, Yup, sounds about right. There was a update to Unity not too long ago. Perhaps take this issue to Traffic Managers page and let them know.

Yes, this is why I suggested a road type that has no parking so a script (from Traffic Manager) does not confuse the issue. Mods, godda love em!

Hi I have a question related to this topic. So if I had created a parking lot through asset editor as a park asset, how do I get more people to actually use it? People are somewhat using it and I assume it is because it's viewed as a park in the game but that means cims have to want to visit the park to visit the parking lots, know what I mean? Is there a way to associate the parking lot with a nearby building?

I use parking lots near commercial, high density residential buildings, unique buildings as well as at park assets and they are used for parking their vehicles and walking to other places. To make your own parking lot I have never done. I imagine there are rules due to the fact I have seen a few that simply don't work as I believe they should.

I use this one. You do need tpme, anarchy and move it but if you're not already using those it's time to start anyway. 😀
