Above Ground Metro stations only use one side?
So for the first time I decided to use one of the new Metro stations in my city because I couldn't have underground tubes crossing a canal. So I used one of the above ground metro stations to replace a previously underground one. Tracks all connected fine, lines shifted and all that.

Then I noticed thousands of people waiting at a stop and metro cars backing up all the sudden. I zoomed in to notice the station only ever uses one side of the metro track despite having two of them. Both in coming and out going metro use the same side.

From my experience with metros and train stations but not elevated metros specifically one platform is for traffic that goes one way, and the other platform for the stop when the metro/train is going the other way. Except when it is at the end of line line in which it always (for me) goes onto one side.

You might just need to delete the line. Create a new line and put more attention when laying down the line to use the sides that you want. Unless the elevated metro is different. I have only used underground, and ground level stations and have no problems with those.

I know how they normally work, this stop is a mid point in a line and previously each direction had it's own side. The stuff didn't back up. Now they are using the same side of the platform and the second track remains empty. Just found it odd.

I will try deleting the line entirely and putting down new, but again I just found it odd it worked less than the below ground stations.

If you don't mind mods, you can use Advanced Stop Selection to pick which side should be used.

In my experience you have to put the cursor onto the correct pixel to place a stop at the overground metro station. And this is even worse at monorail stations because they are smaller.
