Editing workshop map in map editor - how to do it properly?
Hi
I downloaded a map I like to use privately and I wanted to make some changes in map editor. After working a few hours I restarted game and Im getting a lot of NullReferenceException errors when trying to load it into editor again.

I had around 100 mods enabled, many map themes, LUT's and some assets for this map from map maker. I only used vanilla assets in edit but I add one more ship line.

So I wonder how can I edit maps without getting errors when loading them?
Should I disable all mods and all LUT's and map themes, and only enable map theme used by map? Is it safe to enable some mods when editing for removing later?
Why I am I getting NullReferenceException errors when I did not change any mods when loading map again?

Would really appreciate any help here :)

Disable all mods you don't absolutely need to edit the map. Most mods are made for the simulation and break when opening the editors. So it's best to turn off mods when going into the editors, at least all the ones you don't need. If you don't need any mods, then an easy way to turn them all off is adding the -disableMods launch option to Steam. :)

Thank you so much for your reply. I only need The map theme and the map really. Earlier I used Move it! in map editor, do you think that can cause problems also?

No, Move It will be fine in the Map Editor.
Just keep in mind that all you are doing is creating or editing a map. Therefore you only need those tools that help with that. For example, the Extra Landscaping Tools mod.
You do not need assets or building tools, or traffic managers, or info mods, they're all for when you build the city as part of the main game.

Ok, thanks. I keep Move it!, Camera Positions Utility, the map, map theme, LUT and a few assets already used in the map from map maker.

Personally, I wouldn't use any LUT's or theme while editing a map. I would add those when I actually use the map to build on.

A null reference error report [NRE] is generated when you load a map that had something present when it was saved, but not when you loaded it. In other words, when a map or game is saved, the game saves EVERYTHING that was active and present. If anything is missing, you'll get an NRE.
So, if you got that on the first load of this Workshop map, then either you didn't pay attention to the Required Items the map author should have stated on the Workshop page, or they forgot to mention something.
