On game launch "the handle is invalid" (0x6)

I have looked all around to see if there is a fix but I can not find one

How far do you get when launching the game? Do you see the launcher? Do you get to the main menu?

nope i just hit play and the error message comes up

If that doesn't help, I'm afraid you'll have to get in touch with Paradox Support. There are instructions at the end of that thread on how to do that. They can then guide you through the process needed to get you back in the game, and log any bugs that need fixing.

I am having this error, and none of the trouble shooting that that page had fixed the issue. I have reinstalled the game, set the game to start as Admin, all to no avail.
