Saved game to steam cloud not working
Hi

for 2 days it worked then it stopped. I play on my laptop during day. Skylines runs in background while i work.

I save game to steam cloud and i have a paradox account but upstairs on my desktop the game is no longer loading from the last saved point on my laptop downstairs. Its supposed to be linked and it was until 2 days ago.

What gives?

Does the save not load at all? Or is the most recent cloud save not showing up for you? Do you still see the save on your laptop and does it load fine there?

yes the latest save it loads on my laptop fine where i initially saved it as a save steam cloud.

But the most recent cloud save is not showing on my desktop upstairs

That sounds like an issue with Steam then. I'd try logging out of Steam on your desktop, shut Steam down completely, restart Steam, log in and then see if the cloud save shows up. If not, I'd try making a new save from the laptop and see if that will show up.

Alternately there's the option of just moving the save file manually with a USB stick or some cloud storage, but since you use this often, it seems worth it to try and get Steam to behave again. :)

Hello, I know it is an old thread but the problem is still there unless you do certain things before trying because I ran into it today, identical issue between laptop and desktop. Make sure you are signed into the Paradox account as this seemed to fix the issue of the save game not showing up on the desktop computer. You can easily do that from the Paradox Launcher. This had to be done even if I had answered Yes when it asked me about it previously. Also make sure the save gets its time to save and upload to the online database.

Wrote this post in order for anyone else browsing unto this thread from your search engine like I did know what to do, because the solution was pretty simple at least to me. No one had clarified what worked so now you can see a working solution in practice so now the thread can be closed :steamhappy:

Just figured out this issue ..

not sure how it related to anything other than saved games but in the event of not being able to access newer saves what ive found is to just delete the older saves and steam cloud will populate the newer files once the game loads ...

a bit frustrating and def somewhat of an antiquated system but this has absolutely worked for me as of now .. will post if this fails for some reason

If you don't want to loose your saves DON'T EVER trust them to someone else. Why do you think they call it Steam Support rather than calling it Customer Support? Save them incrementally to C:/Users/(Your user name)AppData/Local/Colossal Order/Cities Skylines/Saves .... On your local hard drive as normal and then periodically back them up to external hard drive.
