Not in industry area
Hi, I've checked the forums and got no solution. This is my problem:

I place a farm main building and can't place any farm fields. I have tried:

1) define a district and assign a farm industry to it then place farm main
2) define district and then build farm industry main
3) build farm industry main and paint district around and "over" it
4) build farm industry main and -try- to expand the district it generates (can't expand it)

I have tried changing brush sizes but i can't so if you know a trick to change my brush size so it is small enough to get into the district the main farm building creates that would be great. Maybe that way I can successfully expand that district

Basically, I have tried all f combinations and nothing works. I did manage to get an ore industry working way before but farm and forest just cant get them to work.

Note: If I demolish the farm main building and delete all districts, the district created by the farm main still persists, there is no way of getting rid of that f...er

All in all, extremely frustrating that something that should work straight forward, well, doesn't.

I appreciate any ideas other than what I've already tried.

Thanks!

It sounds like you might be using the old district tool, which does not work with Industries buildings. You want the Industry Area tool, which is the one highlighted here:

when you are trying to place a farm building down, what does the info popup say? something like "not in industry area" / "slope too steep" / "space already occupied" ???
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

As Avanya said, make sure you're using the district painter with the factory icon in it, and not the normal district painter.

That's not going to work. You'll end with with a tiny farm district where the main building is surrounded by an undefined InDLC district.

I've done it, but it's tricky. You have to use the smallest painter brush and have it in the exact center of the InDLC area before you try expanding it.

Should be either by the normal InDLC area remover painter or by using the InDLC area painter and right-clicking instead of left-clicking. If you tried it and it's still not working you may have a broken mod of some sort.

The OP is clearly using the wrong tools and it isn't due to mods.
They are using the district tool and not the Industry area paint brush.

Hi guys, thanks all for the replies. I especially like the step by step with images, no room for error there!
Well, like I said, I made it work before with the ore area but it wasn't working with the farm or forest one in particular.
I started a new clean map (vanilla + network extensions) and followed all the steps by step just in case and it is working.
Thanks dudes!

A picture is worth a thousand words ;)
I'm glad that helped! You really should use this guide too. It will detail everything you need to know about how to use the IND DLC,

Well, I think I got the hang of it now. My farm area is on 4 stars right now so feeling good about it. I like the options we get to balance things out.
My eternal problem is the not enough workers one. I use to get this one right some time ago but havent played CS for such a long time that it's almost like I'm starting all over.
Cheers!
