[FIX] Missing Workshop Files? Not downloading? Fix here!

In the Steam Client, check the Downloads page. Is the download stuck there? Perhaps with a "Missing Downloaded Files" error?

If so, it's a corrupted temp download file. If you've got the Missing Downloaded Files error, try this. Usually step 1-4 are sufficient.

1. Close down steam completely (so Steam > Exit in the upper left menu),
2. go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop.
3. Delete the Downloads folder.
4. Then restart Steam. Resume the download if needed.

If that didn't help:
5. Hover over the "Missing Download Files" text and note the Steam ID. (the string of numbers).
6. Repeat step 1 and 2.
7. Open the 255710 folder.
8. Delete the folder with the mod's SteamID.
9. Repeat step 3 and 4.

This will not affect your game, saves or workshop items. All you'll be deleting is a temporary file that's stored during the download. Normally this file is moved to the Workshop folder once completed, but because it's corrupt Steam doesn't recognize it and it stays in the Downloads folder.

This is an issue that currently affects all Workshop games. It's not caused by the actual game, it's a bug in the Steam Client. Reporting it Paradox won't help, the problem is on Steam's end.

Just made a thread for a similar issue, will attempt this fix and report back. However I am dealing with almost this exact issue and not receiving a "Missing Download Files" error.

GOSH thank you so much! I was so lost when I loaded my game and was missing 50 assets and 2 mods all of a sudden. Worked like a charm :)

Mine are downloaded but randomly work or not work in game, before it was ResizeIt that wasn't working, after complete game delete, boot and reinstalling the game, now the only mod that works in game is reszite it, all looks perfectly fine, mods are installed and show up in the games options menu. But how to use a mod if the keyboard shorcuts are not activated and their menus are gone? Something is wrong but I don't think it's at user side, more something to do with Steam. Never had this issues before! Hopefully someone notices something, the only thing I can say, before whilst starting the game via the steam play button, sometimes it showed an update screen, this I have not seen since the latest update.

Please someone help ;-)

I think it's an overlapping problem, I've had the same issues with mods not downloading.

Since the mods are downloading and showing up in game for you, it seems unlikely to be the same issue. But you can try the last steps AquilaSol listed and see if that fixes any mods that aren't working.

THIS WORKS WITH ANY GAME!
i did this with call to arms gates of hell, folder 400750, my steam would fail at updating 3 mod i had, i turned off steam. went to my download in the workshop folder, found these downloads folder in the content folded, deleted them, then deleted the download folder, started up my steam, unsubbed to those mod on the workshop, then started my game. im going to re sub too those mods but hopefully it does not happen again
