if you have suggestions to improve the launcher you're welcome to share it,
but please not just contributing by negating others
I understand this post is about contribution so here are my ideas if it's to be useful.
1- Mod management.
Some mods do require the game to be restarted to take effect. it would be nice to have the list of mods in the launcher to enable or disable them before the game even starts. Would save precious time when needing to troubleshoot something from starting or quitting the game over and over enabling and disabling mods. right now the way it is, start game, check mods, disable mods, quit game, launch game, check game, quit game, start game re-enable mods, quit game, start game.. just having the mods in the launcher would reduce this process in half. with a 4 mins loading time each time this would mean close to 20 mins saved on this process. probably 1/4th of my 800 hours play time is spent watching the loading not that i have many issues but I like helping other with theirs.
2- Game Profiles
I know this would be a lot of work, but having a team dedicated to launcher functions it shouldn't be too hard to implement.
Have multiple profiles with sets of mods and assets along with their savegame. For fast loading into a game when you have 5 or 6 different saves that use different mods and assets. They could be made shareable so when helping others they can just share the profile they have and it would avoid the helping community to have to ask for a list of mods and assets from the user when they have hundreds they would automatically be subscribed and downloaded when the profile is loaded the first time. This would make individual helping way easier and make the overall gameplay better by facilitating community help.
3- Sent information
Have a list of informations Paradox gathers from you, stating which ones are necessary for them and allowing the players to choose which of the secondary information they agree to share with Paradox. Personally I don't care about that but a lot of players care about their privacy and this would help a lot in easing the raging that's been going on within the community.
4- Opt-out
An option a little like the bypass launcher that's been designed by the players, Allowing those that trully want nothing to do with the launcher the option to disable it and go straight into game from steam.
5- Guides.
Have links to guides to help players understand the AI like some traffic management guidelines from the game maker, how the AI was developed and it's base functioning. Useful tips and tricks, Haven't really searched the forums yet but I'm pretty sure there are a lot of golden usermade guides, having them linked within the launcher would give it a great purpose.
That's pretty much all I have in mind at this moment. If I have more I'll be sure to say.
bloatware is anything extra that we dont need or want to use, but are forced to have it installed. the launcher is forced, and is not optional to remove it or ignore the updated eula.
Both things are not nice.
What is the reason to even have a launcher or launcher team in this game?
Just launch the game immidiately, would save time for everyone and is cheaper to make..
Only valid reason to have a launcher is to configure vide drivers in older games, semi valid to select/configure DLCs. This one has none of it.
what people actually want is A no launcher a skip the new EULA, or be able to skip the updated EULA and B integrate better the launcher with the original menu.
That still doesnt change the fact that by definition is bloatware: is something additional forced to users that wasnt requested or needed. And it looks a lot like an excuse for imposing new telemetry practices. Thats bloatware 101.
If you have suggestions for improvements to the launcher that would make it feel worth having, then please add them here.
