Map goes white when placing objects

Whenever I go to place an object like a water or electricity facility, underground pipes, or a unique building, everything on my map goes completely white. The only reference markers I have are the mini-squares of zones along roads. But the roads themsleves are whited out and not visible while trying to place objects. Also, the active zone along pipes doesn't appear as you place the pipes.

One more thing: There's no problem with placing roads above ground (the map functions normally), but I can't place roads in tunnels below ground. When I try, nothing happens. The map doesn't even go white—just nothing happens.

Any clues about a solution?

Have you tried adjusting the display settings in your settings menu, while palayying the game? Gamma springs to mind.

Yes, I have, but nothing doing. There is a permanent white fog across the screen that prevents me seeing the roads and assets. It makes it impossible, for example, to place a bus line.

Try the Page Up button. You may need to press it a couple of time.

Not sure if Toggleable Whiteness was available 5 years ago, but it may be what you need.

Yes, the change to white screen can be irritating during placements as you lose the ability to see where you're putting things. I don't use it myself but here it is: -

Could you post a list of your mods.
