I can't stop starting over again
So I've only just got the game and I constantly feel annoyed or disappointed with how my city is starting to devlop and constantly quit and restart.

Anyone else do this early on?

You could start a map with more tiles at once. Then start building a village/city/something. Let it develop and move to another part on your map. Start a new village/city/whatever. Then when this one develops also go to the first one and re-arrange buildings/area's or change your infrastructure.
I have started a new map a month ago. With the 81 tiles mod. Now i have a little village running. But I am not 100% happy with the layout and so on. Now I probably gonna build a new village a few miles abroad. This way I can build how I want and not what my cims demand.

I try to persevere, and as its not too difficult to make money I wait till I have a stash then just adapt, tear down, rebuild, which is basically the history of city development anyway. Now disasters provide a random element to that, do I rebuild exactly what was washed away in the tsunami or do I try to make it better. I can never throw a city away though, I still go back to my very first city I started on release day, changing it to reflect the new things I have learnt, adding new stuff from the DLCs. I like things to evolve and just take it from there....

Thank the gods it's not just me.

I hate that some roads are locked behind milestones (namely Highway and larger normal roads) so I want to build close to highway but growth happens top quick and the poor residential gets too close to highway and industrial.

Found a few pre-made residential "grids" so i think I'll start again tonight and have a little village and develop from there.

My biggest issue is always not enough space off of the highway to expand roads so they start getting backed up. Need to figure that out a bit more. In the process of reading the traffic and road guide in more detail.
I used to do that all the time tbh. What helped me was playing a game with unlimited money where it doesn't really matter if you have to bulldoze half of the City. It's still challenging in terms of providing services and obviously taking care of traffic, but you don't have to worry about how you build so much as you can easily change that.

And after that, I found myself using the experience I've gathered from this savegame coming very handy in my cities after that (without the mod enabled) I think playing a city like that helped me to overcome my "fear and pressure" of having to build everything perfectly right away.

Idk that's just my experience

I managed to get money rolling in and have a save which is 3 milestones away from having all of them, But I'm not happy with the design. It was my first proper attempt and now I just can't seem to get the style I like.

I seem to have in my head the natural way that cities develop in real life from small village to large sprawling city, but I just haven't get the balance right yet
