Pey'j disappearing still not fixed after 20 years (spoilers)

On the last mission of the game, if you accidentally try to go back towards the transmitter after breaking the Orange holding cell he is in instead of getting the last photo of the Alpha Section leader and the Domz leader talking, Pey'j will disappear and soft lock you inside of the base as the elevator to the Transmitter will no longer work

So, Normal procedure is Free Pey'js body -> Go to the crypt and get the picture -> leave towards the transmitter -> be told pey'j is still alive, go back for pey'j and get the cutscene -> take elevator to transmitter = Works fine

Soft Lock is Free Pey'js body -> accidentally leave towards transmitter -> be told pey'j is still alive and get the peyj cutscene -> Go to the crypt and get the picture -> Go back to Transmitter elevator = Peyj is missing, Double H thinks he is still dead, Elevator won't go back to the transmitter

You can find posts about this issue from 20 years ago and yet this soft lock is still in the game for the 20th Anniversary Edition, This absolutely should have been fixed by now, I just Soft locked my Speed Run Mode attempt because of this stupid bug in the game
