And guess what? No Ubisoft Connect, BattleEye, or Denuvo in that version. Speaking of which, this new version has the words "20th Anniversary Edition" in the title, which only draws attention to the fact that they put a bunch of server-based DRM into a 20-year-old game. You've got to be a special kind of clueless, Ubisoft.

yeah i just bought the original on GOG becasue its DRM free. the only downside there is no controller support for the GOG version so steam deck users will have issues playing it unless they use a mod that uses a game-pad mapper to get controller support

I believe if you name a non-Steam game the same as the Steam version, you can browse user controller configs for that game, which should make things easier.
