Pointless "Remaster" Whats the point?
So essentially you get the same game, for a higher price with no achievements, trading cards, you get ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ DRM, forced to use Ubisoft Connect, don't even get a discount for owning the original and not even a way to play the og version? What's the point in this? its a fake remaster just to force players into Ubisofts ecosystem for a sequel that won't ever release. The store assets aren't even made properly as the cover is stretched.

I was looking forward to this cause i never played the OG and was going to play it but Ubisoft delisted it for this poor excuse of a remaster.

Any thoughts on this if its worth it or if playing the GOG version would be better.

Ubisoft, do better.

Ubisoft release avatar and upcoming prince of persia with achievements. Gets steam gamers excited, then releases BGAE day and date and even mentions achievement sin steam description and mentions all platforms. Then we find out no supported achievements. Utter disappointment and frustration. Ubisoft are just EVIL and way behind good.

Normally I don't care about achievements but owning and completing the original leaves no incentive to buy this.

Ubisoft, do better.

On OG version, have to do some stuff to get controllers working (was clearly designed to be played with controllers), and also to get proper aspect ratio, FOV, at the very least. Maybe more. It could be a bit of a pain and I think it wouldn't always work for everyone. I have the GOG version as well as the Ubisoft version and I just installed and confirmed that you still have to do that stuff with GOG version. And even with that, I remember the control layout not matching the screen prompts and being a little awkward as well, or needing to fiddle with it more or something. I just remember it all putting me off installing it a lot.

In the end, I think I ended up playing it through with kb/m. I'm from the generation when kb/m was default, and I used to prefer it always, but now I prefer gamepad whenever I can unless it's something very competitive and first person and requiring accuracy like CS:GO, or something intended for kb/m like most RTS and some city builders, but in these latter types I still go for gamepad now if it's available and convenient. Playing this with kb/m was doable, but never really felt right. And I think sensitivity was always too high, too.

I guess this one makes it compatible with modern systems as well as seeming to have proper gamepad support. And judging from the screenshots and video on the store page it looks like graphics and models got a pretty decent upgrade, too.

On the other hand, the old version has EAX. So especially if you have the hardware you might prefer that version just for that.

Even though I did play this through only a few years ago (first time completing it) I'd still get this version just to not have to bother with having to make it work adequately, and in case I want to play it through again at some time or let someone else or their kids play it or something. But I'm not gonna rush and pay $30 AUD for it right now. I'll wait and if I pick it up cheaper, then bonus. If not, well I've got the older version on Ubi Connect and GOG.

In any case, I reckon the real reason that this is coming out now, specifically, is for a reason in itself. I'd speculate that it might mean that the sequel isn't too far away. That seems to be the pattern of these things. With that in mind, I'd speculate further that the intention is not to publish this for people who own the older version, but for people who might be interested in the sequel when it comes around (presuming that it still is) and who are not familiar with the original, i.e. for players new to BG&E.

Ubisoft is just STUPID. Evil would be to just release this bare-bones remaster without archivements.
STUPID is attaching another DRM and Ubisoft Connect to it.

PS: Let's not forget that the "Sequel" was promoted as an MMO. With no connection to the original game.

I second the detail. Noticed exactly this. It really proves their care for delivering things.
