Not yet.
Some people have been able to get it playable on it without doing much with what’s been out on EGS

Would be the dream i really hope so
Is there any reason to believe it wouldn’t work on steam deck? I’d be shocked if they aren’t verified at launch.
The EGS versions do work on the Deck, with some mild funk that being properly installed via steam should resolve.

The Epic versions do not work well on Deck from what I've read/seen. I've never looked deep into why, but I think it had something to do with the cutscenes. The gameplay looks smooth though.

I truly hope they can get them working and no online requirement. Would be a real dream come true!

The ONLY thing wrong with them is that the EGS versions on Deck cannot play the pre-rendered opening cutscenes (and the endings as well) but there is a fix to make the game just skip those when they roll around. The rest of the experience is perfectly fine and in-tact.

Good to know! I was under the impression it was all cutscenes and that would be bothersome. Fingers crossed they fix the pre-rendered scenes for this release all the same.
it runs amazing. Outside of kingdom hearts 3, the games are insanely optimized
All games already runs well on Steam Deck, but as previously said, pre-renderd cutscenes can't be played (as far as I know, it's because Proton can't read the cutscene files. Other said it's because directX changes to play cutscenes which isn't supported by Proton), so let's hope this issue is fixed with the Steam release.
For CoM, the game is quite barebones without any cutscene (and let's be honest, it's not the best experience to enjoy KH games when half of the interest is to follw the story)
We will know soon enough but safe to say it will work. Its gonna be a Steam Deck interested title.

We know the games themselves will work, but the problem is the video codecs square is using for the pre-rendered cutscenes have issues that prevent them from working, hopefully that gets fixed with the steam release because I want to see the opening scene when I play KH1 for the first time in a decade again.

seen some stuff online pointing to that steam deck compatibility was a priority for the steam ports

Maybe with this getting an official steam release, valve will actually get proton compatible with the codec KH uses, Cause I really doubt square themselves would rework the whole engine to support a different codec just for a launcher change from epic to steam, we'll have to see if they invested the development effort into it, or if they are just gonna let valve work on proton backend stuff to get the codec's working eventually. I expect KH1 and 2 will be marked unsupported by valve initially and then KH3 will be verified (Since Epic version of KH3 already works flawless on deck with pre-rendered cutscenes too (the magic of UE4)

When people say this on forums, it makes it seem like not a big deal.

But in practice, it really does cheapen/ ruin the experience of playing the KH games when a lot of the cutscenes simply don't work and you have to constantly skip over important/ cool cinematics.

And it's not just the opening and endings, there are random cutscenes sprinkled throughout the games that turns out are pre-rendered because they don't work, i.e. Roxas's memories of Sora at the end of each Day at the start of KH2, and a bunch of scenes in the battle of 1000 heartless scenes, and elsewhere.

As someone who primarily got the Deck to play the PC KH games on the go, it really was a pretty big disappointment to find out that I had missed that "fine print" while I was doing my research, and honestly you'd be better off emulating the RPCS3 versions if they don't fix the cutscene issues on the Steam release. the PS3 ReMIXes are nearly identical to the PC versions, with the one downside their being locked at 30FPS
