Steamdeck Compatible?
Does anyone know if it is compatible with Steam Deck?

I can confirm the games run perfectly on deck, I tried all the games in the 1.5 +2.5 collection up until the first save point and a few cutscenes in the "movies" Unlocked fps stays a consistent 60fps with a locked 30 fps cutscenes. No special configs or controller layout to get it to work, it just loaded up.

I played through all of KH1 and 2 on Steamdeck a while ago. All works fine 60fps except CGI cutscenes (e.g. the intro) didn't work due to codec issues. I believe there was a fix but it was a lot of work from memory.

Most likely will run better with it being native on steam due to the SD shader caching and hopefully Square will fix the CGI issues.

KH3 is the only one with problems on deck if i remember
I wish the FMVs will play natively on the Deck for this version.

It's possible that the problems the Deck has with the Epic version will still be present. A game being on Steam doesn't automatically make it compatible with the Deck. For example, Akiba's Trip Undead & Undressed to this day has the intro cut scene playing upside down and all audio missing. It runs pretty well, but I wouldn't say it's worth the trouble without any audio whatsoever.

And then there's Cry of Fear, which the Deck runs at a stupidly low frame rate for whatever reason. Don't get me started on other games that are tagged as playable or verified but have a plethora of issues, like A Hat in Time.

Fingers crossed it works without tinkering, but I have my doubts.

i know that KH on epic had the issue under linux where the cutscenes runs in a different directx and the games itself was another directx. Like movie in DX11 and game in DX12. And proton cannot switch directx on the fly. That's also the reason the theater games (games with only cutscenes for story purpose) cannot play at al.

offcourse i can install windows to fix this but this is not the route i want.
for now i installed psn plus on the steamdeck and play all games in the cloud.

All the games had problems on deck because of the weird Epic DRM and Square's launcher (which the loading screen between games uses the default visual basic app icon lmao)
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.
