How to unlock mercenaries
Had tons of fun with mercenaries on PS2 and 360, but it doesn't seem to have unlocked for me on PC, finished the main game and SW on normal but it's nowhere to be found. What gives?

It's naturally unlocked when you finish the game and it's in the "Bonus" sub-menu.

Are you referring to the extras menu? Because that was actually the first place I looked, all I have is Separate Ways, Movies and Ada's Report

I realise it's normally unlocked by beating the main game on any difficulty, my question is why it wouldn't have unlocked even though I've finished both the main game and Separate Ways (I also don't have Assignment Ada)

You must have gotten the German version of the game somehow or something because in your specific case the German version is the only one like that.

Q: I've heard rumors of the German version being censored. Is this true?

A: No. RE4 fans in Germany can enjoy RE4 in its full, uncensored g(l)ory. However, as was the case with previous German releases, Assignment Ada and Mercenaries unfortunately is not included in the German version. Separate Ways, Movie Viewer, and Ada's Report ARE included and unlockable.

It should unlock if you beat the game the first time. If it didn't unlock then you probably got the censored version. I bough my DVD copy (UK distribution) from amazon and it ended up censored. I am happy wih that though, as I don't like the mercenaries mini-game and I only use it to unlock the handcannon, with the censored version it can be unlocked much easier by beating the game once on Pro. But for you probably this is not good news.

Oh, that's interesting, I haven't seen mention of any censored version other than the German version, well that explains in the other case where someone asked this question and they replied that they didn't have the German version.

At the very least it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that the storepage makes no effort to say if you purchase it in the EU you get the cut German version, regardless of whatever EU country you bought it in

I don't believe that you get the censored version wherever you buy it in EU, mine seems to be just normal, having mercenairies and everything

Yep, I agree with DeeDoo[EG]. You were unlucky enough to get a german key. And I didn't know german laws was SO strict with video-games. Why not censoring all the game itself ?

Yeah, the gameis not even censored anyway, it is cut. There is blood, I dont see any less in the German ver. just no mercenaries and assignment ada.

Also, I am having a hell of a time trying to farm golden eggs for my 1st Pro run... dang patches and versions.

I bought this game from steam in the US and i dont have Merc or assignment ada... God i hope there is a way to get mercenaries... BS

As far as i remember was it a fault on Capcoms side with the german USK though. They handed it over for rating and added after that the special content. And since that required them to have it rated again and pay for said raiting, they did not hand it over again and just left the new content out to stick to the old rating.
So this has nothing to do with law, only with funds.

I bought this game from steam in the US and i dont have Merc or assignment ada... God i hope there is a way to get mercenaries... BS
You have been physically present on US ground and bought the game on Steam there?

Ok left me rephrase, i am in the US my account is registered to Iowa in the US which is where i live so i technically bought it on US soil using US internet lines. So yea i bought it in the US. I have no freaking clue as to how i could have gotten an EU copy...

Did you verify that you got an "EU" copy? Europe should get the WW/worldwide version, nto the German one. To check your version, click "Steam" --> "Settings" --> "Account" --> "View Account details", you can find your license there.
