Subtitles mod?

So apparently this game is completely broken as far as english subtitles are concerned. My girlfriend is deaf and I'd rather not sign everything to her as she's playing through the game for the first time. I'm surprised there isn't a mod out there for subtitles. What can I do to make this happen? Is it even possible?

What is the problem with the subtitles? The game natively supports closed caption and subtitles for English.

I did some more searching, if you speak/read German/Spanish/French/Italian then the subtitles work for them. They do not work for English it seems. Sorry about that.

Some people say it is a bug. The PCGaming Wiki says it supports English Subs so maybe they're right.

The game has never included English subs, unfortunately. They are only there for the aforementioned languages. Or if there are English subs, nobody has found them in the game's data yet and nobody has enabled them. However I suppose it would be possible to edit another one of the language's to replace all the text with English. I'll see about doing that, actually, and releasing it as some sort of mod. Though there are no promises.

Doing the work Capcom should have done. If you accomplish this you're alright in my book, for what that's worth.

I just skimmed through the files in the hope that I could help. Most of the files can be viewed through wordpad, but they're all written in some kind of crazy programming/wingdings. I can't make any sense of it.

that's actually quite incredible. that does most of the work for me/us. Now it is about finding out how to put those dialogues into a language pack that's already with the game

Might I ask what file(s) exactly you looked at? I've found various candidates for text however I would like to know if you can recall which one(s) you looked at.

aren't the dct files under bio4 > text the subtitle files or am I wrong?

I've tried messing around with those and all I got was these results.

Main menu was untouched, still in a language other than English. I've found various potential files that could contain the text to which I need to edit, however after unpacking .lfs files I'm usually left with .dat, which even using already-made tools, don't extract anything. It could potentially take awhile to figure everything out.

Frustrating. I'm gonna tap into someone I know with some experience doing mods and see if he can help us out on this.
